9:23AM Jess McGuire | Last night the Walkey Awards were held in Melbourne, and journalists from around the country gathered to pat each other on the back and appreciate the most kick arse efforts of their peers over a couple of drinks.
Sadly for us, nothing overly exciting seems to have happened this year – there were no
public spats, and I really was hoping there’d be one considering a journo friend’s last status update on Faceook before the awards was “[REDACTED] is toying with the idea of slipping a migraine tablet into Glen Milne’s whisky at the Walkleys tonight.”
So no fights, but kudos galore – the majority of which went to Channel Nine’s now axed
Sunday program.
Two journalists from the Nine Network’s axed Sunday program have won the gold Walkley, the most prized award in Australian journalism.
