1:25PM Jess McGuire | Tough times over at Mix 106.5, it would seem. Sonia Kruger and Todd McKenney have lost their breakfast show’s executive producer after he “clashed” with Australian Radio Network management and left on Friday.
Call them the Teflon twosome of Sydney radio – after a year of personal publicity disasters Sonia Kruger and Todd McKenney have survived a recent ratings slide at Mix – while their executive producer has been axed.
Brenden Wood left the embattled breakfast show last Friday, reportedly after clashing with Australian Radio Network bosses over a lack of marketing support for the pair.
The Daily Telegraph points out that some of the breakfast team’s woes during this year cannot exactly be blamed on Brenden Wood.

I wish I could sound more excited about this latest development in talent-based celebrity television, but I just can’t muster up much energy when it comes to Dancing With The Stars. Yeah, you can dance now… so what? Unless you started the series with no legs and managed to grow them back by sheer will power (and the occasional massage from Sonia Kruger), I’m not totally blown away by the fact you’ve spent weeks training with expert dancers and can now perform a passable waltz in front of an audience of overly excited Channel Seven viewers.
But what am I saying?! The show provides Sonia Kruger with a regular television gig, had the good sense to ditch Daryl Somers (Hey, Hey IT’S TIME TO GO HOME NOW DARYL, YOUR TIME IN THE SPOTLIGHT IS WELL AND TRULY OVER), and is responsible for one of the best conversations I’ve ever had with a cab driver. I take it all back! I love Dancing With The Stars with all my heart.
Luke Jacobz, you are a winner! A winner is you! Well, you’re as much of a winner as someone who uses a ‘Z’ instead of an ‘S’ in their name can be. What are you, a suburban discount variety store?

1:36PM Jess McGuire | While Defamer Australia knew Todd McKenney was innocent of any wrongdoing after the incident earlier this year which saw the Dancing With The Stars judge discovered unconscious in a park with over $400 worth of GHB in his pocket, it’s nice to finally see the legal system follow our lead.
A drugs charge against Dancing With The Stars judge Todd McKenney has been dropped, New South Wales Police confirmed today.
McKenney had previously indicated he would plead not guilty to one count of possessing the illicit drug GHB.

Now who will we turn to on network television to remind us how much we all enjoy reciting lines from Strictly Ballroom? To quote that very film, that was unexpected!
Mercurio was told yesterday he was no longer required on the judging panel of Channel 7’s hit show Dancing with the Stars.

Todd McKenney Skips Today’s Court Appearance
2:10PM Jess McGuire | Where oh where is Todd McKenney? That was the question for the braying pack of press types outside Downing Centre Local Court when the Mix 106.5FM breakfast host failed to turn up to face charges of possessing GHB. Why he’s even having to appear in front of a judge over this issue is beyond me, the man explained quite clearly that a playa hater planted $400 worth of drugs on him in a fiendish plot to bring down the McKenney empire, and that explanation is good enough for me.
McKenny was on air this morning for the 5am-9am breakfast shift and interviewed Australian Idol judge Marica Hines but did not make it to court for his appearance which was listed at 9.30am.
His no-show meant McKenney did not have to face the large media pack waiting for him at the court.
The general manager of Mix 106.5 owner Australian Radio Network, Anthony Fitzgerald, would not comment on why McKenney was running late.
I’m no Columbo, but I’ll take a punt and guess that he was late to his scheduled 9.30am court appearance because he was nattering away with Marcia Hines until 9am. Traffic at that time of day is a real bastard, and Sydney Buses can be a little unreliable, so it’s unlikely he’d have made it from the studio to Liverpool Street in under half an hour. Still, someone should check the parks just to be on the safe side. Those haters just won’t give up sometimes! More »
