Theate producer John Frost has described former soap star Craig McLachlan as one of the “greatest stars of musical theatre”. McLachlan is preparing for his turn as the leading man in Chicago.
Having watched Craig McLachlan well up with tears during an interview after footage of his performance as Stuart Diver was shown on a screen next to him, I can wholeheartedly agree with any and all compliments given to Craig when it comes to his acting ability. 5:08PM Jess McGuire | Our thoughts go out to actor Rob Guest this afternoon as news emerges the star of the theatre suffered a stroke last night and is currently in St Vincents Hospital.
Guest, 57, currently starring in the musical Wicked, was admitted to Melbourne’s St Vincent’s Hospital last night, a spokeswoman for the production said.
Guest is best known for playing the Phantom in Phantom of the Opera for most of the 1990s in Australia.
Rob impressively portrayed the Phantom for – wait for it – 2289 performances! A champion effort by anyone’s standards.
We wish him a speedy recovery.
