11:57AM Jess McGuire | What have Australian radio gods Hamish and Andy been up to lately? Oh, only charming the pants off every television viewer in America! Well, every television viewer in America who watches Jay Leno. Pink Loves Kyle & Jackie O, Flirts With Rove McManus On Twitter

6:09PM Jess McGuire | Twitter is messing with my head. I keep finding myself strangely enthralled reading the banter of B-list celebrities, and also marvelling at the fact an astounding number of Australian journalists seem to have a twelve year old girl’s grasp of the English language. I understand it’s 140 characters or less, people, but for the love of god – stop using text talk to get your point across! YOU’LL NEVER WIN THE TWITTER EQUIVALENT OF A WALKLEY AT THIS RATE! Anyway! Moving on… here’s something I just spotted on Pink’s Twitter account. More »

Tasma Walton Craves Spermination By Rove McManus

10:47AM Jess McGuire | Ladies mag editors around the country must be rubbing their hands together with glee after Tasma Walton admitted in an interview with Sunday Magazine that she’s hankering for babies with television hosting superstar and annual Logies victor Rove McManus. In an exclusive interview with Sunday Magazine Walton, 35, talked of her happiness with the Gold Logie winner, saying she was now content with everything in her life except for one thing. “More and more, the idea of having a child appeals – and it hasn’t always been that way,” she said. I suppose gazing at Rove’s cherubic features, combined with Peter Helliar’s no doubt non stop chatter about his little ones, is enough to turn a woman onto the idea of motherhood. Tasma continues, discussing her relationship with Rove and the tabloid interest once their dalliance was revealed in the press: More »

K.d.’s Constant Cravings For Police Escorts Leave Vic Police In The Naughty Corner

9:32AM Clem Bastow | When you use the phrase “police escort” in the same context as a term like, say, “recording artist”, you generally think of artists like Elvis Presley, The Beatles and Whitney Houston, non? Well, you can add the bane of sub-editors and style-guides everywhere, k.d. lang, to that list – the Canadian chanteuse apparently required an escort to the Rove studios on the weekend (why? Er, the plane was running late… or something), and it seems Victoria Police are not happy about the indulgence. Shadow Minister for Police and Emergency Services Andrew McIntosh said overworked police would be disappointed to hear of the “waste of resources”. “Whether it was paid for or otherwise I would be questioning the value to the community of getting a singer to an interview on time,” he said. “Providing these resources is jeopardising public safety, when there are stations like Werribee and Sunshine where the resources just don’t exist.” Well, Mr McIntosh, how do you know, like, that her car, um, might have had to drive through Sunshine and Werribee on the way? Yeah! Maybe she came from Avalon or some shit! Honestly, this is all pretty stupid, particularly considering the buck-passing that’s going on between her people, Roving Enterprises and Channel Ten. Who cares if she’s late, it’s live TV, make a gag out of it! Put on another of those hilarious stand-up comedians that Rove likes to feature! More »

Kyle Sandilands Declares Hatred Of Rove McManus

8:41AM Jess McGuire | In a shocking revelation sure to get pint-sized host (and Gold Logie nominee)de Rove McManus slipping on a lucky throat-punching glove of his very own, radio host Kyle Sandilands confessed on air yesterday that he loathes McManus with a furious passion. So what exactly happened? Sandilands attacked McManus after the TV host called in to discuss his seventh consecutive Gold Logie nomination. The pair played nice for most of the interview and Sandilands even signed off by saying: “Thanks mate, nice to talk to you.” But then, as things drummed up for extra publicity tend to do, it all took a turn for the vicious… More »

It’s Gold Logie Fever!

1:51PM Jess McGuire | Not only has Chris Lilley managed to hit the ARIA charts with his ‘Naughty Girl’ masterpiece – sure, down to #12 this week but we still suspect he’s got more of a chart future than the poor Young Divas these days – but he’s now one of the contenders for the coveted little gold man at the Australian showbiz glittering night of nights, the Logies! It’s a battle of the golden girls and some of the small screen’s favourite hosts for this year’s Gold Logie, Australian television’s biggest award. ABC Television’s Andrew Denton, Chris Lilley and Adam Hills, and Ten’s Rove McManus will vie against former winners Kate Ritchie and Lisa McCune for this year’s Gold Logie for Australia’s most popular television personality. Neighbours star Natalie Blair and All Saints veteran John Howard round out the nominees. Will he win it? The competition is indeed tough. The lovely Adam Hills is certainly adored by Spicks and Specks fans (and lord knows, the sell out live show the Spicks team toured around the country not that long ago proved there are huuuuuuuge numbers of folk who go weak at the knees for Adam’s affable charms) but are Spicks enthusiasts TV Week readers? Kate Ritchie has obviously won the nation’s heart after clocking in over 20 years at Home & Away, and she’s also now a radio star, so she’s a strong contender. But Rove McManus is an almost – almost – unstoppable Gold Logie winning force most years… although Lisa McCune may “bring it” once more. The John Howard it’s okay to like strikes us as John Wood v2.o (which means we don’t think he’s in with a chance), and we’d like to think Natalie Blair is an outsider for this award, but you never know, people are strange – especially those who vote for the Logies. In short – we’d like to see Chris Lilley win, we’d be pleasantly surprised if Adam Hills pulled it off, we’d expect to see Kate Ritchie, Rove McManus or Lisa McCune delivering a thank you speech, and we’d fall over in shock if John Howard, Andrew Denton or Natalie Blair sauntered off stage clutching the Gold.
