Facebook Haters Have Turned On Nicole Kidman!

Australian Post Posted by Jess McGuire at 8:09 AM on December 3, 2008

keithnic.jpgJournalist Fiona Connolly recently used column inches in the Daily Telegraph to alert readers to an extremely concerning issue - people on Facebook dislike Nicole Kidman. In fact, they loathe Our Nic TM enough to actually start spiteful groups which cruelly mock Nicole, her forehead, and her acting ability! It seems too horrible to be true, I understand. But our intrepid reporter has investigated the issue thoroughly and reached the only conclusion a decent and upstanding citizen possibly could.... Facebook is full of evildoers.

From the expose:

Someone I know suggested I join the Facebook group, "Am I Taking Crazy Pills or is Nicole Kidman the Worst Actress in the World?" I don't know why. I am completely indifferent as to whether Kidman's acting skills are bad, very bad or indeed the worst in the world. And I don't know what a crazy pill is supposed to be.

I think they are probably talking about ecstasy. Facebook users gulp these crazy pills by the fistful, as apparently they make the process of poking friends and strangers more pleasurable. Disgusting, I know.

Ms Connolly continues:

But I was not entirely surprised it existed - Facebookers are inherently unpleasant and Kidman has always polarised people.

Wahey! Hello there, sweeping statement! Facebookers are inherently unpleasant? Tell that to Dannii Minogue! She's probably right though - other than the homosexuals (and yours truly) who make up People For The Ethical Treatment Of Dannii Minogue, the social networking hell that is Facebook is pretty much made up of the most vicious and cruel bitches to ever walk the earth, sit down in front of a computer, and send a virtual plant to an associate using the (Lil) Green Patch application.

She goes on:

More Footage Of Nicole Kidman On Letterman

Australian Post Posted by Jess McGuire at 5:10 PM on November 26, 2008

Our US counterparts posted a short clip of Nicole Kidman's rather awkward time chatting to David Letterman on his CBS talk show, but is two minutes enough to judge if you unfortunately missed her appearance when the program was broadcast in Australia? I think not.

Here is Part One of Nicole Kidman promoting Australia on Letterman, and Part Two is after the jump.

Nicole Kidman Hopes Baby Sunday Has A Southern Accent

Australian Post Posted by Jess McGuire at 10:08 AM on November 26, 2008

Nicole Kidman, where are your loyalties? As you and husband Keith Urban were responsible for producing the nearest thing to Australia's very own Chosen One (sorry, Mia Hewitt!) this country's got, I would have hoped you'd be trying to ensure that little Sunday Rose grew up with as much Down Under-influence as possible, regardless of whether you're raising her in Nashville or Sydney.

But what's this? You're hoping she develops a southern accent?

Kidman announced in the US she hopes four-month-old Sunday Rose speaks with the twang of a southern US belle befitting the place of her birth, Nashville, Tennessee.

Oh come on, Nic! We all like Steel Magnolias, but there's no need to go crazy here!

Nicole Kidman's Awkwardness '08 Tour Enters 'Blame Letterman' Phase

Posted by Kyle Buchanan at 5:26 AM on November 26, 2008

Nicole Kidman's cringe-inducing appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman last night is continuing to serve up some aftershocks, and during the star's appearance on Regis and Kelly today, Regis treated Kidman as though she were promoting her late-night trainwreck, not Australia.

Nicole Kidman Ponders Talk Show Retirement After 'Letterman' Appearance Gone Awry

Posted by Kyle Buchanan at 2:05 AM on November 26, 2008

If Hollywood is soon to lose Nicole Kidman to motherhood, at least she's going out in a blaze of glory! The actress appeared on Letterman last night to promote Australia (we've seen it, and we feel safe in saying that Kidman's nose gives her finest performance ever), and the host/guest interaction was so uncomfortable that even Kristen Stewart sent Kidman flowers afterward (with a note attached that said, "Damn, girl. Loosen up!").

Nicole Kidman A Terrible Actress? Say It Ain't So, The Times!

Australian Post Posted by Jess McGuire at 12:08 PM on November 21, 2008

Baz Luhrmann's Latest Epic TM Australia has finally premiered, and the reviews are trickling in!

Claire Sutherland from the Herald Sun loved it, calling it "a love letter to the Australian landscape and our history" and adding that "Australia has international blockbuster written all over it." Meanwhile, over at The Age, Jim Schembri was somewhat less impressed, calling the film good but excessively lengthy and full of "Aussie cliches". Both reviewers seemed happy enough with the performance of leading lady Nicole Kidman though.

But a reviewer for The Times over in the UK has positively slammed Our Nic!

Baz Luhrmann's choice of Nicole Kidman to star in his latest epic movie Australia has been savaged by a British newspaper columnist.

'Australia' is Reeeeally Long, and 6 Other Notable Lessons From the First U.S. Reviews

Posted by STV at 1:59 AM on November 21, 2008

Stateside critics have finally seen Australia, and the reviews are in! Kind of, anyway; we've mostly been sorting through first impressions, rough blog sketches and less-then-soaring anti-summaries ("Some kind of lethargy virus had taken over my system," wrote Jeffrey Wells), but we think we have enough to go on to figure out where Baz Luhrmann's epic may sit among this fall's most anticipated releases. Your one-stop cheat sheet follows the jump.

Nicole Kidman Celebrates 'Australia' Premiere By Plotting Retirement

Posted by STV at 1:43 AM on November 19, 2008

The first audience to see the finished version of Australia should be drunkenly stumbling out of the afterparty right about now in Sydney, where Baz Luhrmann's $130 million epic held its world premiere today. Early reviews from the homeland are mixed ("While it will be very popular with many people I think there's a slight air of disappointment after it all," notes The Australian), putting Fox on edge for this weekend's first American press screenings and underscoring downswung star Nicole Kidman's red-carpet threat to walk away from the whole sordid business:

'Australia' Inches Closer As Baz Luhrmann Caves to New Ending

Posted by STV at 1:45 AM on November 11, 2008

Not much has changed in the last week since industry observers filed a missing persons report on Australia; Baz Luhrmann's $US130 million historical romance is still officially unfinished with only nine days to go before its homeland premiere and 16 days before it opens worldwide. Again, Baz, don't hurry on our behalves, but! We learned a lot more over the weekend about those "mechanics of stotrytelling" so troubling the director in his quest to put his Nicole Kidman/Hugh Jackman epic to bed. And massive spoiler aside, it should make for a roiling eternity of second-guessing, DVD revisionism and studio-hating from Luhrmann loyalists.

Four Oscar Winners Plus Fergie's Labia Add Up To 'Nine'

Posted by STV at 6:15 AM on November 8, 2008

The Weinstein Company this week released the accompanying portrait from Nine, director Rob Marshall's musical currently shooting in London. The occasion was the American Film Market, where foreign buyers (and probably not just a few domestic distributors smelling blood) rummaged through Harvey's Dollar Store for bargains on TWC properties, and as the photo suggests, nothing says "deal" like Penelope Cruz in her best bladder-holding pose opposite a spread-eagled Fergie.
