4:46PM Jess McGuire | Do not ask me what kicked this off because I have no idea, but for the last week I’ve been listening to ‘Cool Rider’ from Grease 2 repeatedly on the iPod. It’s so awesome! I mean, obviously it’s kind of weak, but therein lies its charm. Michelle Pfeiffer’s thin vocals? Lyrics which spell out the song title? That amazing riff underneath the bit where Michelle’s singing “If he’s cool enough, he can burn me through and through!”? IT IS ALL GOOD.
I think Natalie Bassingthwaighte should cover this. And given her background in musical theatre, I suspect she’s probably familiar with the track so it should definitely be considered a potential b-side/”free download for the fans”.
HINT HINT, THE BASS/SONG-BMG.
PS: Comic kudos to the wag who said in the YouTube comments “She shouldn’t straddle the top rung of a ladder like that. It’s not safe, and in strict violation of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration guidelines.” More »

8:55AM STV | With our daily “MGM Tower Under Attack” report in the books, “retard” outrage in the streets and everything thankfully quiet on our Billy Bob Thornton Co-Star CurseWatch, the only real news we have left to pass along today actually speaks for itself: “The Best Breast List: wowOwow’s Peek Down Dazzling 40+ Décolletage.” Indeed, the saucy ladies of the women’s Web site wowOwow — including Liz Smith, Whoopi Goldberg, and Lily Tomlin among others — gathered their 10 favourite middle-age busts in no particular order for discussion, observation and, if you dare, debate. We don’t exactly know the criteria (bikini-rocking couldn’t have hurt Helen Mirren), but see if you can lift and separate them in an excerpt after the jump. Will John Waters and ‘Hairspray 2′ Break Musicals’ Sequel Curse?
7:00AM Defamer Hollywood | In the tradition of classic musical sequels like Goodbye, Dolly and Seven Divorces for Seven Brothers, the creative team behind Hairspray is set to return for a follow-up slated for 2010. New Line has reportedly brought aboard John Waters — whose original 1988 hit was adapted to a Broadway tuner that grossed $200 million when re-adapted for the screen last year — to scribble a new treatment “[picking] up the Baltimore saga of the Turnblad family after the resolution of the first film, which was set in 1962.” More »
