Amy Winehouse Watch: Get Well Wishes From Lily, We Remember The Music, Maaaan…
10:53AM Clem Bastow | With Winegums laying low after her Mercury Awards walk-out, peer and sometime rival Lily Allen has taken this opportunity to keep Winegums Watch afloat by sending the embattled soul singer some words of support.
The pair have been chart rivals, but at Tuesday night’s GQ Men of the Year Awards Lily said: “My heart goes out to her. I feel for her so much with everything that’s happened and I really hope she’s OK.”
Lily, 22, who presented a Best Band gong to the Kaiser Chiefs, added: “You don’t need drugs to be creative. No one needs them.”
Well, she would say that, since all she indulges in are a few snifters and a couple of jazz fags.
Meanwhile, we thought it best to remind you all that despite what Winegums Watch may suggest, we here are first and foremost fans of Miss Winehouse’s formidable musical talent, which was thankfully in full effect at the Mercury Awards. In a little end-of-the-week treat, check out Amy’s stunning performance of Love Is A Losing Game after the jump. More »
Amy Winehouse Watch: Storms Out Of Mercury Awards, Can’t See What Fuss Is About
11:14AM Clem Bastow | After losing to Klaxons, Winegums is said to have stormed out of the Mercury Awards – although we would like to congratulate husband Blake Fielder-Civil, who apparently made a point of standing up and applauding the winners, while Winegums only shrugged.
Winegums – attending with Fielder-Civil as well as Dad, Mitch – is apparently also a master of understatement, shrugging not only at her loss but also the media storm she has been in the eye of these past months:
She shrugged off her drug problems and confided: “I am really well at the moment. I had a great holiday with Blake and I really don’t know what the fuss was about.”
Meanwhile, fellow loser nom Dizzee Rascal also disappointed any press who were looking for a fight, defending Winegums by saying, “Amy is just going through a phase. She’s a brilliant singer and deserved to be nominated.”

Amy Winehouse Round-Up: No Mercury Award For You!
9:55AM Clem Bastow | Well, we said that it was “all about the music, maaaan”, but apparently Amy Winehouse’s musical talents weren’t enough to snare her the Mercury Award’s £20,000 (a lump sum that would buy a whole heap of drugs, razors and booze hair extensions and ballet slippers), which instead went to Klaxons.
The troubled singer received a warm round of applause as she stepped up to stage to perform her track Love Is A Losing Game in front of some of the cream of the music industry.
The star wore her trademark beehive and a strapless pink and yellow short dress to perform the number. Following her acoustic set she was hugged by her husband, Blake.
Host Jools Holland said, after her performance: “She has one of the best voices of anybody of all time.”
Bless, Jools: not just a memorable cameo in Spice World, but one of music’s true nice guys.
Amy attended the awards with husband Blake Fielder-Civil and dad Mitch, which is not surprising considering the Fielder-Civils are still hammering home their “don’t buy her records” scheme – and, hilariously, Amy’s records are hotter than ever!
Her award-winning LP Back To Black has shot up to No.2 – from No.8 before her drugs collapse on August 8 – her new single Tears Dry On Their Own is selling well, and she is top of the UK Radio Airplay Chart.
Finally, The Sun managed to get the boozy pair to defend themselves upon their return to the UK, where they assured Victoria Newton’s spies that they are “not going to end up dead like Sid and Nancy”. No, but they might just keep beating each other up and encouraging each others’ drug and alcohol dependencies, for old time’s sake! More »
