Jamie Durie Was Not Dumped By Oprah, Thank You Very Much!

12:05PM Jess McGuire | Celebrity gardener Jamie Durie has a bone to pick with New Idea – it seems the troubled ladymag has “defamed” the former stripper (hey, that’s my job!) by informing its readers that Oprah had dumped Durie from her talk show. Durrr! They weren’t even going out, New Idea, so how could Jamie have been dumped!? More »

Hopefully You Weren’t Too Attached To Jamie Durie’s Latest Gardening Show…

2:03PM Jess McGuire | Because if you were a huge fan of The Outdoor Room, described by the Daily Telegraph as a show which saw “Durie travelling the globe scouting gardening ideas for Aussie backyards”, you may not be seeing it on your television screen again. Jamie Durie may have dug a hole too deep, with mounting speculation his gardening show The Outdoor Room will not return to screens. It’s understood the expensive show will be replaced by Sunday Night, a new current affairs show to challenge 60 Minutes. Somewhere, Scott Cam is guffawing and cracking open a celebratory tinny. Australia’s Favourite Gardening Gurus Have Turned On Each Other!

9:07AM Jess McGuire | I’ve always heard that gardening and spending quality time with plantlife kept you all Zen and shizz, but latest reports in the paper would indicate that’s not the case. Oprah’s new favourite plaything Jamie Durie and Australia’s other top dude who digs stuff on a renovation show Scott Cam are bitching about each other with all the spite and venom one would expect from teenage girls. And I for one love it. The gardening gloves are off, with Jamie Durie’s former Nine co-star Scott Cam shaming the Seven personality for “offensive” comments he made which pitted Durie’s new program against the makeover of Sydney survivor Lauren Huxley. Uh-oh. Did golden boy Jamie actually say something offensive? Say it ain’t so! More »

Jamie Durie Incurs The Fiery Wrath Of Prince Philip In The Middle Of A Field Of Pretty Flowers

10:03AM Clem Bastow | Jamie Durie – who I should briefly congratulate for winning gold at the Chelsea Flower Show for his garden created with pal and nurseryman Wes Fleming – has learned that despite all his hilarious malapropisms and gaffes, Prince Philip can apparently turn his sense of humour on and off at will. Mr Queen was inspecting the Flower Show, and expressed particular fondness for a bushy plant in the midst of Durie’s winning exhibit. Which is probably where the Royal-loving Brits would’ve left it, but Durie just had to go and open his dirty colonial mouth… The prince’s reaction stunned Mr Durie, who had just spent a pleasant few minutes showing the Queen around his garden. “It was my first experience of Prince Philip,” he said. “He said to me, ‘I do like your tree fern’. I said, ‘Actually, it’s not a tree fern, it’s a member of the cycad family. It’s a Macrozamia moorei.’ “And with that, he walked off. As he was walking away he said, ‘I didn’t come here to get a lesson’ under his breath. “I didn’t hear him say it, one of the boys heard him. I thought, ‘Well, you did ask.’ I was trying to be as courteous as I could and give him the right information.” Poor old Jamie, all that time spent doing backflips and wearing g-strings has obviously numbed him to such monarchist niceties. But I say give the old duke what for – he’s spent too long getting away with calling anyone who isn’t white “savages” and probably having a go at “poofs” and still looking askance in the forests for “Jerry” or “Charlie”. I daresay old Liz was probably glad to have someone else set him straight for a chance. More »

All The Semi-Nude Backflips In The World Can’t Save Jamie Durie’s Relationship

11:30AM Clem Bastow | We all know Jamie Durie is Oprah’s new favourite plaything, but has he been doing the dirty on his long-term GF while working in the US? That’s the word on the streets, if you believe Confidential, who received an anonymous tip-off stating that the reason Durie has parted ways with Nadine Bush (his partner of ten years) is because he’s been seeing another woman in the US. Naturally, Durie is denying the claims. While the Channel 7 star yesterday confirmed that his romance with Bush was over, he denied any wrongdoing – instead putting the break-up down to the difficulties of his constantly working overseas. “We’ve been working through a lot of issues in the past few months and one of the biggest ones is that it’s very hard to have a relationship when you’re working in two countries,” Durie said. “Nadine and I have enjoyed some great years together and she’s a very special girl who does and will always mean the world to me. “There is no animosity in our break-up but obviously it’s not easy for either of us.” What’s our take on it all? Well, we just refuse to believe that the fresh-faced, earnest young man of this video would turn out to be a bounder. Then again, we all thought Heath and Michelle were going to stay together forever and that Phil Spector was a bang up dude, so who are we to judge! More »

Had Enough Jamie Durie Manpower Footage Yet? Neither Have We!

11:48AM Clem Bastow | Thanks to the magic of technology, and the generosity of Entertainment Tonight’s ET Online, we present, for your viewing pleasure (after the jump), the Jamie Durie “expose” that clearly has us all a flutter this week. We think young Jamie is totally adorable. Albeit in a would-totally-rub-baby-oil-on-your-silk-shirt, force-you-to-touch-him-in-a-borderline-sexually-harassment-manner kind of way. Click through if you want to experience the HOTTNESS! More »

News Ltd Pwned By Defamer Australia’s Superfast Pointless Youtube Skillz And Need For Greasy Hunks In G-Strings

11:10AM Clem Bastow | We posted breathlessly about the amazing Jamie Durie “expose” on Entertainment Tonight yesterday, and we gave you the joy of vintage Manpower to boot. Because we care. Well, it’s good to see our influence is stretching all the way to News Ltd HQ, who only deigned to post about the lulzsome item this morning. US gossip TV show Entertainment Tonight aired raunchy footage of the Australian gardening guru’s former career as a stripper. In Australia, it’s no secret Durie was one of the stars of beefcake troupe Manpower, but in the US it’s not so well known. Blah, blah, blah… What can we say? We silence our competition with a dainty yawn. PH34R U5!!1! More »

Youtube Clip Of The Day Decade

8:46PM Clem Bastow | We were enjoying a cuppa and a Bex this afternoon and relaxing in front of Entertainment Tonight, when we were particularly delighted to see they were doing an exposé on Oprah’s new Good Friend, Jamie Durie. Mary Hart seemed especially happy to be discussing Jamie’s “secret” Manpower/Thunder Down Under past, and there was mucho macho vintage strip action shown. Naturally, we scrambled to see if we could find the special on YouTube, and were momentarily disappointed… until we found this: Where do you start with a clip this incredible? The stop-motion strip tribute to Tron? Jamie’s wholesome smile-to-camera? The music? The editing? The tour dates? Now we really need a cuppa and a Bex and a nice lie down (preferably with Jamie and the boys). Note From The Associate Editor: Defamer Australia boss lady Jess would like to make it known she sends her wholehearted approval of this particular YouTube Clip Of The Day, all the way from her holiday retreat, such is its sheer awesomeosity – and so, her second in command would like to lovingly dedicate it right back to her. Wilks To Join Ever Growing List Of Australian DIY Experts Who Have “Made It” In The US

8:00AM Jess McGuire | Joining Jamie Durie in dirty boots on the world (well, the only bit of the world that counts, America) stage? Miss Short Shorts herself Suzie Wilks. Reports News Ltd - The former Changing Rooms babe is poised to make the change to American TV, after successful meetings with media giant CBS. Wilks arrived back last week after a whirlwind trip to Los Angeles where it is understood she met numerous producers. The Barbie-styled presenter is reportedly under consideration for two new shows in the US, which could lead her to crossing continents like Durie, who now divides his screen time between Australia on Channel 7 and regular appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show in the US. The bit of this article we really enjoyed though was the following. The international gigs would prove a fix-it for Wilks’s local TV career which has been flagging since her home renovation show was axed three years ago. Her appearance as the fantasy woman in a Holden commercial this year drew pot shots from feminists, including controversial academic Germaine Greer, who called on the windows of the car manufacturer to be smashed in over the portrayal. Oh Germaine Greer, you crazy lovable bitch! There is a sitcom in that woman, mark our words. And if Bea Arthur isn’t the most perfect candidate to play the role of the sidekick, we’ll eat our hat. Insider Footage From The TV Week Logie Awards

2:21PM Jess McGuire | Turns out Defamer Australia had an operative working at the TV Week Logie Awards, gathering secret footage via the magic of a mobile phone video recorder, AND WE DIDN’T EVEN REALISE. Well, to be fair, we never asked Red Symons to collect such blurry nuggets of behind-the-scenes gold for us, but thank god he did. Well done, sir. Featuring cameo appearances from Larry Emdur, Grant Denyer, Jennifer Hawkins, and Kate Ceberano’s cans, we couldn’t be more pleased with the clip, as it shows us – in a total Being John Malkovich sort of way – just what it’s like to experience the wonder of the TV Week Logie Awards from the perspective of a guest.
