2:30PM Jess McGuire | Reet reet reet! Two Day Old News Desk™ here and extremely flat out after Monday’s Oscars ceremony pummelled my brain and rendered me unable to do anything except rock back and forth and sing “The Reader! I haven’t seen The Reader!”.
Remember how last week we talked about J.D’s unfortunate booting from the INXS camp? Well, according to the band, that’s not quite how things went down….
INXS has hit back at claims that they unceremoniously dumped their former singer JD Fortune from the band in the middle of a busy airport. INXS creative director and global business strategist, Chris Murphy, said yesterday that the band was horrified by comments made by Fortune that he was dropped by the band at Hong Kong airport.
It’s probably worth noting that INXS have actually hired someone to work as a “global business strategist”, thus confirming everyone’s suspicions that it hasn’t been “all about the music, maaaaaan” for quite some time as far as the band’s goals are concerned. More »

8:25AM Jess McGuire | I honestly believe that the last televised talent contest I really and truly lost my heart to was the hilariously awful/amazing Rock Star: INXS. It would appear all I need in order to be satisfied televisually is Dave Navarro swaying around in leather pants, Garry Gary Beers being consistently awesome, and the memory of Michael Hutchence being assaulted on a weekly basis by a cast of would be rockers who include a dude who used to appear on Australian children’s show The Ferals. I think this may make me a bad person, but I don’t care.
Moving on. Viewers who followed the program a few years back would be well aware that the winner of the contest to take over the role of frontman of INXS was a cocky chap named J.D Fortune. His KILLER ROCK TRACK ‘Pretty Vegas’ had the band being played on commercial radio once more (and not in the “here’s a walk down memory lane” kind of way) and for a while, the future looked bright for J.D Fortune.
A couple of years on, it has all come crashing down for him in spectacular fashion. Living in a car! Battling cocaine addiction! Fired in an airport!
The winner of the 2005 reality show Rockster:INXS has been fired by the band, leaving him broke and living out of his pickup truck.

Video Clip Flashback! ‘Full Moon, Dirty Hearts’ By INXS
3:17PM Jess McGuire | After watching an episode of SeaChange today*, I found myself Google-stalking Alice Garner, the actress who played hippie Carmen on the show. Eventually I learned she once appeared in an INXS video, so I tracked that down on YouTube. I don’t really recall ever seeing this clip, which is a shame because it is so nineties, it is almost unbelievable. The clothes, the giant sized video camera, Ben Mendelsohn (looking totally spunky, by the by), and a slutastic Kate Fischer playing the role of home-wrecker.
And woo, the song itself features guest vocals from the marvellous Chrissie Hynde!
You know, for a second there I almost thought Alice Garner was going to join them in the boudoir.
