Defamer Australia Giveaways | Win Tickets To See Wiley In Concert!

8:43AM Jess McGuire | Are you a fan of grime? UK GRIME? Perhaps you’ve heard that song about sauntering about wearing a fancy watch on the national youth broadcaster and thought to yourself “Why, I’d very much like to gets me some of that Wiley! But how?” Defamer Australia, that’s how. We’re giving away two double passes to Wiley’s show in Sydney, and another two passes to Wiley’s Melbourne gig too. So much grime, so little time! Before we get to the act of giving, here’s everything you need to know about Wiley. Disciples of Grime unite! Wiley, The Godfather of UK Grime is headed to Australia in January 2009! Arguably the most influential musician on the UK Grime scene, Wiley has been either directly responsible for or indirectly influenced the careers of nearly every artist to come through the scene. Whether it’s producing beats for, or nurturing younger talent like Tinchy Stryder, JME, Skepta, Doctor, Jammer and most notably Dizzee Rascal, or being involved in memorable clashes with sparring partners such as Lethal B, Kano, Durrty Goodz, Sharky Major, Bashy and Nasty Jack, Wiley has influenced a large number of artists who have gone on to make their mark in the Grime scene. Crossing over to the mainstream and scoring a massive hit both in the UK and in Australia with the track Wearing My Rolex, Wiley has brought his unique Eski Beat sound to the world and cemented himself as one of the most innovative producers in British electronic music. Defamer Australia Giveaway! | How To Lose Friends And Alienate People

9:23AM Jess McGuire | You certainly won’t be losing friends and alienating people when you tell folks you’ve won a double pass to go and see the film How To Lose Friends And Alienate People (DO YOU SEE WHAT I DID THERE WITH THAT LAME-TASTIC OPENING LINE?), now will you? And that’s precisely what I have to give away this morning, thanks to our “friends” in “the industry” (who were foolish enough to [REDACTED BY DEFAMER AUSTRALIA LEGAL TEAM] a B-list soap star you may know by the name of [REDACTED] and the entire escapade was captured – [REDACTED] and all – by Defamer Australia’s crack team of private investigators who always carry a camera on them when hanging around areas known to be frequented by Showbiz Types on the off chance something blackmailable occurs.) Cheers for that, gang! Here’s what you need to know about the movie. How To Lose Friends & Alienate People is based on Toby Young’s memoir of the same name, charting Young’s move from London to New York to become a contributing editor at the highly prestigious Vanity Fair. Fired less than two years later, the memoir hilariously captures Young’s failed attempt to take Manhattan by storm. Which sounds pretty good. It also stars Simon Pegg, Kirsten Dunst, Danny Huston, Gillian Anderson, Megan Fox, and Jeff Bridges (amongst others) so that’s nice, isn’t it? If you’d like a double pass AND a soundtrack for the film (perhaps you can give the CD to your date to thank them for putting out, something they’re bound to do once you impress them with your “Oh, yeah, the studio sent me these free tickets, baby. Relax. I can afford to buy us two popcorns now.”) then just send a half-decent YouTube Clip Of The Day suggestion to tips AT defamer.com.au. Alright? And maybe take me as your date. More »
