Michael Jackson Versus Jarvis Cocker
3:47PM Jess McGuire | Question! Remember when Michael Jackson performed Earth Song at the Brit Awards back in 1996 and Jarvis Cocker leapt onto the stage as a protest against what he believed to be Michael’s slightly Messianic and completely ridiculous behaviour? More » Hey There, U2 Fans!
12:38PM Jess McGuire | Real U2 fans would be well aware of this fact already, but just in case… Bono and friends are going to be debuting their new song “Get On Your Boots” (also: WTF?) at the Brit Awards, which – as I’m sure you all recall – are going to be hosted by Our Kylie.
Irish rock royals U2 will debut their highly anticipated new song at the upcoming BRIT Awards. The super-band will debut ‘Get On Your Boots’ at the music ceremony, which takes place in London on February 18th.
Defamer Australia’s Dial-A-U2-Guru Elmo Keep is yet to hear the song (apparently all U2 fans are patiently awaiting leaks to hit the web), but when questioned by Your Editor at virtual knife point, she revealed “All I know is that Bono rhymes “submarine” with “gasoline”, and that this knowledge makes me die a little on the inside.”
So there you have it.

10:31AM Jess McGuire | Two thousand and nine is set to be two thousand and fine for Kylie Minogue, with Australia’s most beloved pop star agreeing to host next year’s Brit Awards. But of course! If you’ve taken a break from actually winning awards, it’s a nice way to ensure you still get to go to the ceremony.
Minogue, who has won three of the prestigious British music industry awards herself, will join UK comedy duo Matt Horne and James Corden in anchoring the gala celebration at London’s Earls Court on February 18, UK newspapers have reported.
Horne and Corden? I recall that bit of news!
If all goes well, perhaps Kylie could then come home and have a bash at presenting some local awards, like the Logies? Surely it couldn’t be any worse than the year Rove, Eddie McGuire, and Andrew O’Keefe did it..

Kylie Celebrates Brits Win By Downing World’s Most Expensive Drink
8:58AM Jess McGuire | We were overjoyed to discover yesterday that Our Kylie did not let her country down at The Brits, walking away from the ceremony with the Best International Female Solo Artist award.
“I’m all overcome. This is incredible,” the Australian pop princess told the crowd as she collected her award.
…
The win followed a dazzling performance from Minogue, who took to the stage to sing Wow, from her latest album X.
Dressed in a jewelled gold figure-hugging dress, she appeared with a line of dancers fully covered in shiny, metallic tracksuits with matching helmets. The performance and award mark a triumphant return to the music show for Minogue following her battle with breast cancer.
And how does one celebrate such a massive return to form? By quaffing an insanely expensive cocktail purchased by a mysterious admirer!
After winning Best International Female Solo Artist at the Brits last night, the singer was given a £35,000 Flawless cocktail by another VIP clubber.
The enormously expensive drink, which is a Movida trademark, comprises Louis XII cognac, half a bottle of Cristal Rose champagne, brown sugar, bitters and a few chips of 24-carat edible gold leaf.
But making up the lion’s share of the price tag is an 11-carat diamond ring in the bottom of the glass.
The buyer did not want to be named but a source said: “He’s known in the royal circles.”
Mohammed Al Fayed?
We were also pleased to learn that Kylie enjoyed spending some quality time at the after party with fellow Aussie singer Natalie Imbruglia.
While enjoying her crowded party, 39-year-old Kylie was in fierce competition with fellow Aussie singer Natalie Imbruglia, 33, to see who was the most flexible. The competition involved seeing who could bend their back the most. An onlooker said: “It was a close call. But Kylie probably won. It was all just for fun really.”
Another said: “Winning meant so much to Kylie, you could tell.”
In your fucking face, Imbruglia. More »
Amy Winehouse Round-Up: Winegums Live At The Brits
1:59PM Clem Bastow | Apart from her forays into symbolic facial decoration, we’re most pleased with Amy Winehouse’s progress lately, both in an emotional/physical sense, and professional as well. First she wowed the crowd at the Grammys, and she has made a triumphant comeback on home turf at the Brit Awards, too, appearing in debut with Mark Ronson and then solo.
So, for a special treat to while away the afternoon ennui, hop over the jump to watch Amy performing Love Is A Losing Game, live at the Brits!
