“I Was Like… SHIT! Someone Passed Me!” – Australia, Meet Your New Hero
9:42AM Jess McGuire | It seems like only a week ago we were pumping our fists in the air and calling Stephanie Rice the greatest Facebooker Australian Olympic hero evs, but it’s time for her step aside and make way for Defamer Australia’s newest champion, silver medal winning hurdler Sally McLennan.
Sally has won the hearts of a nation not only for her stunning performance on the track, but also (and more importantly) for her refreshingly honest post-race interview which featured brilliantly executed use of the word “SHIT!”,
McLellan, 21, hugged and danced in celebration with bronze medallist Priscilla Lopes-Schliep on the track after the results were announced.

9:53AM Jess McGuire | Ahem. I may be overdoing it a little, but Vega breakfast host (and former member of Channel Seven’s Athens coverage team back in 2004) Tony Squires wrote a nice piece for the Sunday Telegraph about his recent pedicure – no, really – and in it managed to throw a little kudos on the direction of Seven’s Olympic correspondents, a team who aren’t getting much love at the moment from viewers.
It’s virtually impossible for coverage of an event such as the Olympics to be universally admired. A pantheon of sports is happening simultaneously – only so many can be shown live.

Maybe She Was Just Waiting For Him To Flap A Dickie Long Time
11:41AM Clem Bastow | It’s shaping up to look like Beijing 2008 is just not going to be Tina Sparkle’s Olympics. After she was hooted at for asking whether 48kg meant the weight-lifters lifted or weighed 48kg (one would think a reasonable question… sort of), Sonia Kruger has found herself in the hosting deep end again – although this time, because of what she didn’t say rather than what she did. Confused yet? Read on. More »
Stephanie Rice For Prime Minister! Aussie Aussie Aussie! Etc!
4:26PM Jess McGuire | At this point, my former nemesis Stephanie Rice could use her time in the pool to simply do a poo, and I for one would stick a flag in it, salute, and begin belting out “We are one, but we are maaaaaaaaaaany…” and encouraging others to follow suit.
IT’S GOLD AGAIN FOR STEPHANIE!
A touch over two years ago, nobody outside of swimming circles, her family and friends, and maybe those on Facebook, knew anything about Stephanie Rice. Today, among a women’s team of superstars, she is the Australian golden girl, claiming her second Olympic gold medal.

1:16PM Jess McGuire | I was saddened to learn this morning that despite their best efforts, the Australian women’s softball team just missed out on a win against the Japanese in Beijing.
A come-from-behind effort was not quite enough to snatch victory for the Australian softball team, who went down 4-3 to a slick Japanese outfit in Beijing on Tuesday evening.
…
Sandy Lewis, Natalie Titcum and Jodie Bowering hit the runs for the Australians, who face another tough hit-out when they meet the USA on Wednesday.
We can only hope Titcum makes another come-from-behind effort against the Americans. Sounds incredibly athletic.
