11:19AM Jess McGuire | Whenever Russell Crowe does something bad like throw a phone during a tantrum or release an album, I prefer to think of him as a New Zealander with some decent roles in Australian films under his belt. But when he wins an Oscar or wanders around Sydney wearing a tasteful tracksuit combo, I adore him to pieces and feel proud to call him my fellow countryman. And today, folks, Russell Crowe is from the (larger) land Down Under. More »

10:16AM Jess McGuire | I am always thoroughly chuffed to begin a week here at Defamer Australia with a fantastic Aussies Done Good™ story, and it doesn’t get much better than Samson and Delilah’s victory at the Cannes Film Festival. More »

1:22PM Jess McGuire | Although I horribly stated yesterday Ajay Rochester (remember her? She used to be the host of The Biggest Loser…) isn’t likely to end up on the ever-growing list of Aussies Who Done Good overseas (I AM SORRY, FRIEND OF AJAY!), one name we probably can safely add to the names of expats whose careers we heartily embrace is former Home & Away actor Chris Hemsworth. 10:28AM Jess McGuire | Now that people have stopped trying to mug him in the street and steal his meatball sandwiches, Guy Sebastian has been able to focus all his energies on making it big overseas. And from the sounds of it, he’s edging closer and closer to earning the right to be called Our Guy by the press! More »

Things Continue To Go Tiresomely Well For Delta
9:00AM Clem Bastow | Generally speaking, whenever Australian artists attempt to crack the big microphone in the sky and move to the States to “make it”, they come back sooner or later with harrowing tales of playing the toilet circuit in Duluth, or about the time they opened for Stone Temple Pilots/Dave Matthews Band/UFO and were booed off stage in a hail of beer bottles and small dogs. Not so our Delta Goodrem, who seems to have struck (theoretical) gold on her second attempt to break through into the US, and continues to provide a whole bunch of rather dull copy about how well things are going for her – the latest, this piece about Delta “dazzling at New York Fashion Week”. No need to rub it in, Delts!
Organisers had sought Goodrem’s permission to play her hit song, In This Life, as models showed off the latest offerings from some of the world’s top designers.
But when they realised the singer could pass as a catwalk model herself, they invited her to strut her stuff.
More » Enrique Iglesias’ Former Aussie Plaything Causing A Stir In The British Big Brother House
4:28PM Jess McGuire | Who said rainy British weather leads to prudish behaviour? There’s nothing dour about a spunky housemate getting down to the bare essentials on television, and that’s exactly what latest Big Brother UK housemate (and born and bred Australian lass, no less) has done.
The first ever Aussie in the British Big Brother house is causing quite a stir – stripping down to her bikini, even though it was raining.
The sultry Angelina Jolie lookalike, Sara Folino, 27, has been working in the US for music station MTV. She moved to London five years ago after being kicked out of home in Melbourne.
Well done. That’s Gold Coast compound behaviour if ever I saw it. Given that Sara was spotted pashing on with singer Enrique Iglesias at an MTV party, this is simply the latest thrilling event in Sara’s VERY INTERESTING existence. Bravo! Encore! Grab a bottle of champers and go nuts! More »
