Settle Down, MasterChef Fans. It’s Just A Cooking Show!

As an Australian pop culture enthusiast and writer, it feels a little weird to admit that I am not on the MasterChef bandwagon – from what I can gather, the show warrants constant coverage in both the Fairfax and News Limited newspapers. I’m kinda glad I haven’t been bitten by the MasterChef bug as apparently viewers can get… well, kinda creepily passionate about the program. Eliminated contestant Dani has been forced to point out that cyber bullying stars of reality shows is a fairly lame way to pass the time.

From Daily Telegraph:

Here’s Dani Venn’s recipe for “reality rampage.” Add a few “people who don’t have much going on in their lives,” with another bunch who “don’t know how to turn their televisions off,” and what’s left is an acidic mob who feed off their own negativity.

Oooooh GURL, no you DI’INT!

Eliminated from MasterChef, the 26-year-old former publicist served it back to her haters after enduring months of personal vitriol online. The winner of two immunity pins this season, she became the target for all that fans say is wrong with this series: mismatched challenges, inconsistent judging and over-the-top tasks.

But falling short of Sunday night’s finale, the 26-year-old said she had “worked as hard as anybody else” to get this far.

“I don’t think I got it better than anybody else and at the end of the day it comes down to the taste of your dish. Other people can criticise they haven’t tasted it. We should give the judges credit for their talent and knowledge and know they aren’t rigging the competition.”

Laughing off the attacks, she hoped angry fans would “ease up a little bit” now she had been eliminated.

You clearly don’t know the internet, Dani. People can stay angry about perceived injustices for literally weeks after a reality show has ended.

Seriously? You don’t even feel slightly ashamed to have written that when the entire article was about moronic ‘fans’ that don’t know when to quit b*tching about her / obsessing over this ridiculously overhyped TV show?
