4:47PM Max Read | Ann Pettway, who allegedly kidnapped Carlina White as an infant in 1987, has turned herself in, apparently after contacting a police officer on Facebook. She’ll face federal kidnapping charges, plus a lot of people wondering what her deal is.
Flotsam & Jetsam
2:38PM Jess McGuire | If you’ve recently offended the entire Macropodidae family by falsely accusing them (in front of the world’s media) of committing grave acts of violence against you, then you might want to watch the following highly entertaining and educational video from the eighties of an irate roo named Rags wrestling both his trainer AND Australian kids show personality Marty Monster to the ground. Rags also manages to scare the shit out of a young Cameron Daddo. Caroline Wozniacki, I hope you’re paying attention. More »

2:14PM Jess McGuire | I have finally found some time to sit down and listen to the whole Mark Ronson & The Business Intl album, and so far I am very much enjoying it. I was going to post a song called “You Gave Me Nothing” which features the vocals of Andrew Wyatt (Miike Snow) and Rose Elinor Dougall (I’ve played her track “Fallen Over” a fair bit on radio over the last year). However! Unfortunately I couldn’t find the song on YouTube, so no dice. So instead, I watched the clip for the track “Somebody To Love Me” (featuring Boy George and Andrew Wyatt) for the first time and found it both lovely and sad, and I don’t really know why. More »

11:37AM Jess McGuire | I was shocked and appalled to learn that tennis champion Caroline Wozniacki had recently falsely accused a kangaroo of attacking her at a wildlife park, attributing injuries caused by a face off with a treadmill to marsupial bloodlust. I tell you what, Wozniacki’s lies better not have ruined all the good work Oprah and the rest of the McDonalds team did for Australian tourism! More »

Where The Swears Are
5:59AM Adrian Chen | This is 1.5 million geotagged tweets posted between March 9th and April 12th, 2010, mapped according to profanity. Mountains are the sweariest, valleys the cleanest. It looks like the more people live in a place, the more people swear there. More »
