Florence and The Machine – Secret Shows!

Picture it – Sicily 1922. My phone rings and when I answer it, a mysterious voice says “Hello, is this Jess? It’s MySpace.” For a brief moment I was convinced that social networking sites had suddenly become self-aware a la SkyNet and were now beginning to personally call up people who had perhaps forgotten to update their MySpazz blog or respond to friend requests from shitful bands in a timely manner.

Terrified? Relax, dude. Turns out this frightening scenario wasn’t actually the case at all (YET – I WANT TO BELIEVE ETC) and in fact a person who worked for MySpazz was contacting me to ask if I wanted to pop up to Sydney to attend Florence and The Machine’s secret show on Monday the 25th January.

I was all “YES, I FUCKING LOVE HER“.

And they was all “COOL.”

And God saw that it was good.

Why am I telling you this? Because even though the gig is small and very special, you can still win a chance to join me at the show! Here’s some stuff I copied and pasted from the press release about this show because I am lazy.

The only way fans can find out specific gig details is by going to www.myspace.com/secretshowsau and registering their mobile number on the profile from Friday January 15th. Once the secret location details of the gig are revealed, these will be sent directly to phones of registered users and entry works on a first-come-first-served basis.

Renowned for her epic melodies, soaring vocals and raw and emotive live performance, Florence and the Machine has garnered widespread popular and critical acclaim in the last year for their debut album LUNGS, including the 2009 Critics Choice Award at the Brits. Now MySpace fans have the opportunity to be transported with Florence and her Machine to a realm of fairytale and gothic visions and lush pop orchestration

“As her first ever Australian gig, this Secret Show is an amazing coup for Aussie MySpace users. Music permeates the MySpace social experience and delivering this stunning artist to her MySpace fans for free is yet another example of MySpace’s commitment to bringing artists and fans closer – both online and offline” said Darain Faraz, MySpace Australia.

MySpace Secret Shows are FREE exclusive events held intimate in settings throughout Australia and the world featuring some of the biggest international and Australian artists. Globally the MySpace Secret Shows program has featured artists such as Faithless, Fall Out Boy, Gnarls Barkley, The Offspring, Lilly Allen, Pink, Duffy, Franz Ferdinand, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Excellent.

And now? A hot photo of Florence Welch.

Very good.

Your move, Facebook.
