Sam Worthington Is Officially GQ’s Man Of The Year

Congratulations to actor Sam Worthington who took out GQ’s Man Of The Year award at a ceremony in Sydney last night. And bless his masculine cotton socks, he took the opportunity to express exactly what being a man means to him during his acceptance speech. Ready to learn more about yourself, readers with doodles?

Here’s what Sam had to say, according to SMH:

“Other people appreciate you for who you are,” the 34-year-old said, going on to explain his definition of manhood.

“I think it would be arrogant to say these are the qualities you should have as a man and I think that other people should be able to assess where you are in life and your good qualities.

“So, as long as you can make people happy, that’s what you should be aiming for.”

Wise words indeed! Actually, hang on… I got a bit lost halfway through. What qualities would it be arrogant to say men should have? It’s all terribly confusing. I probably need to have another coffee.

After his spectacularly Steve Irwin-esque performance during the last ever Rove program on Sunday night, I’m kinda sad to learn that Sam’s speech wasn’t peppered with words like “deadset” and “fucken”.

PS: I actually met Sam Worthington on a night out when I first moved to Melbourne. I was a bit shickered and didn’t speak to him for very long, but he seemed quite nice.
