Well, This Has Gotta Be One Of Wes Carr’s Worst Gigs Ever
As we’ve probably all learned by now, winning Australian Idol does not necessarily mean you’re ensured a hugely successful career in music. For every Guy Sebastian and Shannon Noll, there’s a Casey Donovan or Natalie Gauci. It’s a little too early to claim that Wes Carr’s career is in trouble, but by god – it’s a bit worrying that only two people turned up to his gig for MySpace Music in Melbourne on Monday.
In his defence, the Herald Sun points out, his show had been scheduled by organisers for 7:30am.
Last year’s Australian Idol winner must have been cringing as he belted out songs to just two people at the launch of MySpace Music in Southbank this week. But to be fair, Carr was playing at the very unrocker time of 7.30am on Monday.
MySpace admitted Carr’s turnout was unfortunate but said other “intimate gigs … showcasing Australia’s best musical talent” – including the Sundance Kids, Leader Cheetah and the Middle East – had a better turnout, which couldn’t be hard.
Are MySpazz taking the piss out of Wes?
Never mind. I still like you, Wes Cougar Carr. And I’m still waiting for that cover of David Brent’s Free Love Freeway. Better get cracking!

yikes
and one was the cleaner
Man…poor guy! I feel really embarrassed for him.
If Wes has a manager he needs to fire him or her. Also if there were only two people there was one of them the reporter?
Should have played at Fed Square, would have gotten some commuters at least. Even a gig with a school there recently got more people there I saw and it was on a Thursday morning.
Casey Donovan is actually doing very well now and is booked solidly until the end of 2010. Natalie, I don’t know about.
It should say Wes Carr first…THEN the Puppet Show!
At least it’s character building, won’t do him any harm. BTW, you remebered Casey & Natalie, what happened to Kate & Damien????
Casey is doing Women of Soul, NYE Lord Mayor in Sydney & Saffires
Bahahahahaha. Just shows you how successful that rubbish show is!!
Seriously, if you’re a singer with some serious talent, you don’t need a show like Idol. They are second class performers. Always have been, always will be.
it was meant to be at fed square – but last minute problems had the event moved. obviously it would of got his office worker fans there.
just heard a big music manager, Doc McGhee who manages Bon Jovi and Kiss and more, from the States talking here about how super talented this Wes Carr dude is from Australia so thought I’d check him out but it says here he is playing shows to 2 people? Have I got the right dude or is there another Wes Carr from Australia?
