The Love God Is Not Very Considerate

For some reason, I was really tickled by the news that Richard Mercer, also known in radioland as The Love God, is a total slob. He’s managed to piss off Mix 106.5FM’s new breakfast team…

Another radio feud is brewing – this time internally at ARN in Sydney. New Mix 106.5 breakfast co-host Mike E has complained that the Love God, Richard Mercer, is sabotaging their breakfast show. Mercer apparently uses the Mix breakfast studio for his syndicated evening show, but leaves the studio in no fit state for the next user. (Leaving the headphones turned up really loud etc!)

Mike E advised his listeners to boycott Mercer’s program. Mike E, who used to work on Mercer’s program, said his former friend had failed to call and congratulate his old colleague when he got the Mix breakfast job.

Headphones left turned up really loud? YOU BASTARD, MERCER. I can think of no greater slap in the face.

However, since it’s highly unlikely ARN would seriously allow their new breakfast show host to tell their listeners to boycott another show on the station, I’m going to assume this little feud is just a daft way of drumming up some publicity. After all, Mix can’t rely on the state of Sonia Kruger’s womb to ensure a weekly mention in the gossip rags any more.
