Interesting Pieces Of Trivia Acquired From Wikipedia VI
Are you a fan of Carly Simon’s song “You’re So Vain”? Well, here are some interesting pieces of trivia acquired from Wikipedia about the famous ode to the male ego.
Firstly, guess who does backing vocals on the song?
The song spawned what many fans consider to be the biggest musical mystery of the era. There has been much debate over whom exactly the song is about. Popular guesses on the subject include Mick Jagger (who sang uncredited backing vocals on the song), Cat Stevens, Warren Beatty, Kris Kristofferson (with whom she had had brief relationships), the unfaithful fiancé William Donaldson and Simon’s ex-husband, James Taylor.
That’s right, Mick Jagger! To be totally truthful with you, I actually found out that Mick performed BV duties on the song from my beloved pal George, not WIkipedia, but the next bit of information I literally just learned from Jimmy Wales’ baby.
In Backstage Passes (1993), Angela Bowie claims to be the “wife of a close friend” in “You’re So Vain,” and that Jagger, for a time, had been “obsessed” with her.
I DID NOT KNOW THAT!
Thanks, Wikipedia.
Now let’s watch the clip and listen out for Mick’s warbling.
YOUTUBE COMMENT LULZ! “This song was supposed to be about a handsome fellow. Why is there spastic being zoomed in and out? Fucking ruined the song. “
