Horrible, Repugnant 9/11 Ad: The Video!

What’s worse than making a 9/11-themed ad? Making a 9/11-themed video!

Let’s all take a moment to wonder why, oh why, Brazil-based agency DDB BRASIL thought such a thing was a good idea…. Okay, now that the moment has passed…WTF? Really? Who in their right mind would think that using a terrorist attack would drive an earth-friendly message home? Also, we don’t want to be sticklers, but the 9/11 attacks killed more than the number put forth by this commercial.

DDB Brasil insists the commercial was nothing but a rough draft, but STILL…Seriously?!

That made me feel quite ill.

Looks pretty damn polished for a ‘rough draft’ or a proposal. If I was a betting man I would suspect that the ad was designed to be leaked and denied, that way the message gets home and the sponsor has plausible deniability.

  • I TOTALLY AGRE WITH BOTH VIEWS–I’M SICK OF CORPORATE AND CELIBRITY DRAWING ‘ATTENTION’ IN SUCH INHUMAN PORTRAYAL OF ALL THATS WRONG WITH THE WORLD–FUNNY, THOSE WITH MONEY SINK IT INTO THAT CLIP, BUT WE WHO HAVE SO MUCH LESS–MAKES SURE THAT THOSE THEY SEE IN NEED, WILL SACRIFICE WHAT THEY HAVE…WE HAVE TRULY REACHED A PITIFUL LOW–IN THE NAME OF ‘HUMANITY’!!!

  • The 9/11 attacks did kill more then the number put forth in this video, but they’re only off by about 150 or so.
I know it’s still a large amount, it’s just that very soon after the attack, numbers were put at 10,000 death, and it was only later that the figure was more accurately put at around 3,000.
    Just wanted to be clear.

while i agree that 9/11 was a tragic event, i have to admit – it is a good ad.
its time the americans stop paying so much self importance to themselves and become global citizens.
9/11 was a sad day for the americans but there are many more ppl suffering out there, many bigger tragedies unfolding. get over 9/11 and move on – the world needs unity as much as it needs hope
