Defamer Australia – “Sway Sway Baby”
This afternoon I began thinking about Short Stack. Even though months have passed since the infamous day Defamer Australia was attacked by barely literate youth baying for “blud” after I penned a less than complimentary review of their idols Short Stack, I still get hatemail from angry teenage girls. Hell, even the bass player’s father hasn’t let the incident go.
Suddenly, it hit me. I knew what I had to do.
Realising I still had the portable recording device I’d used to capture my interview with Peaches over the weekend (more on that later), I printed off the lyrics to Sway Sway Baby, rushed home, grabbed a five string guitar, and recorded (in one powerful take) a heartfelt acoustic cover of the infamous Short Stack single. Yes, the very single I made fun of back in July, thus earning the wrath of Short Stack fans around the country.
Before Short Stack fans begin criticising my voice, let me just add that like Shaun Diviney during the Rove performance I heckled so cruelly, I have a REAL BAD THROAT and therefore YOU CANNOT JUDGE ME.
See? Here’s a doctor’s certificate.
Now here’s hoping my massive gesture of good will is accepted by Short Stack fans/dads, and that the music of Short Stack leads to world peace.

Shaun isn’t anything more than a member of a band whos music i enjoy, he’s not “my precious shaun” So if you’re looking to come and pick a fight with a fangirl who thinks they dont need an education cause they’re going to marry a lead singer of a band, then i guess you’ve come to the wrong place.

Well your detective skills aren’t that good then because i’m not 14 and if you’re referring to a “14 year old short stack fan” as someone who idolises three young guys that haven’t exactly done anything to change the world then i guess you’re wrong there too. Whilst i enjoy their music, i’m quite the opposite.
An education little girl, it will be your friend one day. Stay in school, listen real hard to your teachers. Stop listening to girly boys who cannot sing or play an instrument. Lose the anger, and in the words of Jon Stevens, ‘reach out and touch somebody.’ There will come a day in the next 5-10 years when you will have your first independent thought, so start practicing for when that magical day arrives.
Ahh teenage girls, always good for a laugh as they still don’t realise that the rest of society sees them as a massive joke.

Why does it not surprise me that a Short Stack fan also finds Carl Barron funny.
Wow. I think it’s quite clear now that Jess is in fact encouraging the attention instead of wanting it to go away by doing a unpleasant performance of one of their hit singles.
I’ve become sick of people being up on their high horse thinking their style of music is the only way to go.
Like flavors of food, we all have different tastes.
You ‘adults’ go back to your Andre Rieu and stop bagging out the style of music us teenagers choose to listen to.
The stereotyping is also beginning to get old real quick. While many of the fans in the fandom do fail at literature, there are some that infact do not.
While you say that this band has no talent, I don’t see any of you on the Australian charts.
Short Stack took the time and dedication to learn how to play their instruments and also took the time to write and perform their songs.
While Shaun Diviney’s voice may not be your cup of tea, you don’t find us admiring the likes of Cher either. Again, we all have different opinions on what is good.
Go back to your jobs, go back to your families and stop trying to get enjoyment out of bashing teenage girls who are dedicated to their idols.
Also, on a side note. I have to agree with the above comment. I only listened to 0.03 seconds of this acoustic performance and the tuneless, manly tone turned me off immediately.

Maybe these imbeciles could take the time and effort to learn how to play properly, sing in tune and refrain from raping the English language. These ‘imbeciles’ may be quite happy with the way they play and satisified with the level they are at. You might not be happy with their level of music ability but I don’t really think they actually want your approval.
And you’ll find the my recess is spent happily eating my chips, drinking my water and chatting to my friends. It does not involve any of the time wasting babble you wrote.
Quite sure that Shaun’s singing is more in tune than Jess’ will ever be.

It seems to me that the last paragraph in Melissarrrgh’s response was pure sarcasm.
I myself and well over 14, and from a selective high school education, I am a fan of Short Stack, and think that Jess’ issue with them is best left alone now.
Quite obviously, every body has moved on, apart from Jess who seems to find humour in contstantly digging at them in what appears to be an attempt to gain a rise out of the Short Stack fan base.
Sure, I find her posts funny. I spend as much time paying out the band as I do supporting them, but when is enough, enough? It got a rise out of the band, but thats all done and dusted, it got a rise out of the fanbase and still does, but these are purely three boys doing what they love, and who are we to criticise that?
Sure, they may not be the best looking, the best performers, or be the best musicians, but they’re having a go, and thats got to count for something.
I respect the opinion that many people don’t like this band, thats completely fair enough. I just think the band, and their fans deserve a fair go.
