Changes Rocking The Hills Rocks Hollywood

In news that has rocked fake-Hollywood, Audrina Partridge announced today she is leaving MTV’s quasi-reality show The Hills sending industry analysts into coma-like stupors attempting to figure out what this means, or if it means anything.

Or if by not meaning anything that means something. Or if the lack of meaning says something that is in itself meaningful in a way that’s more real than things that actually mean something…

‘Twas a time when being famous for nothing meant something, but today it’s a mere stepping stone—to being famous for nothing in a different way. Partridge told US Magazine that she will be leaving to focus on her acting career. She said at a junket for her upcoming film Sorority Row, “I moved to Los Angeles to be an actress, and before I got onto The Hills, I was going to auditions and castings and working full-time at [film studios] Quixote Studios and Smashbox.”

Actually, mock if you will but, the last laugh may well be on Audrina. We hate to get prematurely excited but Sorority Row looks like it might just be the best film of a thus-far dismal 2009. Judging from the trailer, Row tells the story of a slain-Audrina, killed as the result of a sorority house prank, who comes back from the dead to wreak vengeance on her former sisterhood.

Well, it only took 80-some years of moviemaking to figure out that what audiences want to see is a zombie version of Audrina from The Hills going on a killing spree in the greek system, but finally Hollywood put it all together. Hats off to Hollywood. Looking forward to Sorority Rows 8 through 15. And congratulations to Audrina for taking entertainment to a higher ground than The Hills could climb.

    @BullfightsOnAcid: She is totally the only reason I'd consider seeing this movie. Her hotness was ridiculously underrated during that season and she was on Veronica Mars for two seconds which makes her aces in my book.

    About how much money do people make for being on The Hills? Who is making the big ducats there? Does anyone know?

    @Cynner: I love her comment about moving on to the next phase of her career (I read that on some other gossip site... I know, sad for me...) And that the next phase of her career is a reality show on MTV. So, you're still working at Dairy Queen, just the one downtown, not at the mall! ALSO, I have to thank Audrina, because now I know what they mean when the describe someone as having 'chicklet teeth'

    Do you mean we'll get the last laugh by laughing at Audrina? Or that Audrina will get the last laugh?
    Also, I'm sorta hoping this is the grand finale nail in the coffin for The Hills franchise.

    @glitteratigroovejet: "i can't believe all this is happening while Lauren's gone"

    I wish I had the powers to promote that. Well played.

    @Tiger Lourdes: Zombie Hunter:

    The Quad is having a Kathy Ireland film festival this weekend. I heard Audrina's making a surprise appearance.

    @OliversArmy: Interesting, not sure why Maybe the gawker media authorities have hidden it to protect me

    @BullfightsOnAcid: and you forgot to mention Jamie's riveting performance as a Hooters Girl in "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry or whatever that movie was called.

    Jamie's mother must've been especially proud of that one. (I heard Tonya Cooley turned down that part.)

  • Fancy Pants

    @BullfightsOnAcid:

    Nice plug for your movie Jamie! I'm sure you'll be about as successful as Real World Chicago Alumna Tonya Cooley whose done a lot of soft core porn for Cinemax.

    The most successful Real World alumna is obviously Jacinda Barrett from the London Cast who has starred in a lot of major movies including Poseidon, The Human Stain, Bridget Jones, School for Scoundrels and is starring in two major movies this year.

    Hey Richard, just curious, how come when I click on your byline I don't see the piece you did for Gawker on John Hughes? It got over 15,000 views and 112 comments.

    You guys totally missed the fact that this movie also stars Jamie Chung who was on the Real World San Diego. She's actually put together a pretty good acting resume and will probably be the most successful "entertainer" to come out of the Real World series. She also recently starred in the Dragonball movie.

    I've read the script for Sorority row....it's not even in the top 20 best films of the year. Not even close.

  • Cynner

    Sorry, but Audrina will be staying with the MTV family of reality stars. She's going to do her own reality show on MTV once she leaves The Hills. We get to watch the boobed zombie create havoc in Hollywood as she searches for an acting career. Just like the KardASSians, we can't get a break on our TV screens.

    @mfnher: There's just no way that it can end up being good. Just no way.

  • glitteratigroovejet

    a zombie "version" of Audrina? how is this a variation?

    i can't believe all this is happening while Lauren's gone

    @sparkyl: I suspect the last name was originally Partridge but her parents were too stupid to spell it right on the birth certificate.

  • Richard Rushfield

    @sparkyl: Oops. Thanks!

    Patridge, omit the first r. Sorry that I know that.

    If Sorority Row ends up being good, wouldn't the last laugh be on us?

    The highest IQ on the Hills is in the double digits and it doesn't belong to a human.
