Carrie Prejean Suing Everyone

Noted wind victim Carrie “Miss Opposite Marriage” Prejean is suing three Miss California USA officials for firing her because of her religions beliefs, even though that is not actually why they fired her.

Everyone wanted to strip Prejean of her crown because of her inarticulate embrace of bigotry, but that didn’t happen. Donald Tump didn’t allow it. But when she became a right-wing martyr and started making her own media appearances while ignoring Miss California-related contractual obligations, they decided she was not working out so well, as Miss California. On the whole, that was a boon for Prejean, because it was harder to sell the “martyr” thing when the only bad thing that had actually happened to her was getting talked to by Perez Hilton.

So now that she is a famous professional conservative family values advocate who posed for racy photos before having a beauty pageant pay for her breast implants it is time to sue the terrible people who thrust her into the public eye in order for her to make her fortune. Specifically, Miss California USA officials Keith Lewis and Shanna Moakler, and publicist Roger Neal.

The complaint cites damages to Miss Prejean including libel, public disclosure of private facts, religious discrimination, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligent infliction of emotional distress.

Oh no, not negligent infliction of emotional distress! That’s the worst kind of infliction of emotional distress!

This seems like a nice time to remind everyone that getting made fun of for stupid shit you say is not actually an example of religious discrimination. Oh, also we should probably remind everyone of these hilarious emails full of all the bias and stuff.

@tigolbitties: Naw, like all good hypocrites, or Irish Catholics, she stumbles into church straight from the bar. Or is that only where I'm from?

  • MattyMcboy

    @atlasspanked: I want to go to there...soon.

  • GZAthegenius

    It's like she's suing for opposite-libel.

I say Perez Hilton, Carrie Prejean, one pit, one knife, two enter, one leaves.

Either way it's one less cartoon character in this world, and a win for all the rest of us.

"What, the Miss California pageant is not run by California and therefore constitutional protections do not apply? Jurisprudence is hard!"

@irishflyesq: Let us know how many times the phrase "opposite marriage" appears.

@aLostLady: Yes she did. Once she lost her crown, the *other* Miss California was asked to go to the event. Miss Windy Boobs felt that it would be too confusing if two Miss California's were to show up.

@Atilla the Bun: I love their legal analysis. I'm sure Floyd Abrams is looking forward to them filing amicus curiae briefs on his next case.

With all the people around here who fail basic reading comprehension, I am the last commenter you should be wasting time correcting.

If this suit is successful, I intend to sue every executive at Bertelsmann AG, the ex-Mrs. Smithherself and that snotty employee at my local wine shop.

  • aLostLady

@misslinda: Isn't it so fabulous? It's quite enthralling to peek inside that darling, demented little head of hers. And didn't she cancel her Special Olympics appearance, anyway?

  • Atilla the Bun

@bowel_and_the_obstructors: I had no idea what I was getting into when I went over there to read them. What a bunch of crazies. If I hear one more wingnut talk out of their ass about free speech and the First Amendment, I'm going to scream. It does NOT mean that you can say whatever you want without fear of criticism or censure.

And they sooo don't get the irony of in one breath claiming it legally wrong for Prejean to be criticized for her viewpoints and in another saying Perez Hilton needs to shut up with his "gay agenda."

  • BookishLookish

@kneetoe: Kneetoe, it is like you are clairvoyant! "Counter-sue the Pants Off Carrie" will be her first pron feature.

  • Atilla the Bun

@morninggloria: I guarantee you she went for "negligent infliction of emotional distress" instead of "intentional infliction of emotion distress" (even though the latter is a more widely recognized cause of action and sounds so much meaner and would let her harp on her victim status even more) because most insurance policies don't protect their insureds against intentional claims. She is going for the cash, plain and simple.

I didn't know there were any states left that still recognized negligent (as opposed to intentional) infliction of emotional distress, but I guess California does.

  • morninggloria

@irishflyesq: What if I cried a whole lot? Men get nervous when girls cry.

  • misslinda

@City_Dater: She's not suing for libel. She's suing for defamation, based upon allegations that the pageant fabricated a bunch of missed appearances so as to have grounds to fire her when what they really fired her for were her views on opposite marriage. She's calling it religious discrimination, but I don't quite get how that works since there is no reference to "opposite marriage" in the bible.

  • bowel_and_the_obstructors

The comment section over at bighollywood is hysterical.

Is there a link to the complaint? I would love to read it. Hell, I would love to answer it.

  • irishflyesq

@morninggloria: It's SUPER hard to prove. And not even recognized in some states, unfortunately.

  • tigolbitties

@BookishLookish: i nominate BL for the job if Pareene can't do it! I think your investigative plan sounds pretty tight... except maybe after the drinks/porn you might want to add bible study or a trip to church to solidify the bond with lady precum.

  • City_Dater

If you're totally insane and go around spouting hate speech on national television, and someone else points this out, is it really libel?
Or is the libel in her suit the whole "Who Bought Those Breasts?" story? Which also isn't really libel, is it?
    Carrie Pre-evolution confuses me so.

  • mattchew03

Religious discrimination? Maybe I'm just a fuckin' redneck (oops, wrong post), but isn't that kind of what Ms. Prejean's views on marriage epitomize?

  • misslinda

Holy crap, I had not read those emails before. That is one big helping of batshit crazy. I sooooo look forward to reading her affidavit:

    39. Thereafter, I advised Mr. Lewis via e-mail, "What are u gonna do fire me for volunteering for the special olympics hahaha ur crazy No I am doing this appearance." See Batshit Email String, attached hereto as Exhibit G.

  • morninggloria

"Negligent infliction of emotional distress" is a thing you can sue people for? Why didn't I know about this in eighth grade? I'd be super rich!

  • Cynner

I'm pretty sure that Trump's organization checked with lawyers first prior to termination, and we all remember the emails that she and they exchanged regarding her appearances. Knowing that she's already done topless photo's looking into the camera (that damn wind!), I bet she'll end up in Playboy much like Speidi, claiming that the Lord loves our bodies! She ain't as innocent as she proclaims, and anyone who screams that loud over their religious beliefs sometimes has a hangover during church.

    Cynner

  • Tristan Alécksandt

When she proposed on that sort of platform that no gays should get married, especially when sighting "family values" and what's right for "my America," then wouldn't that sort of ostracize and degrade the gay culture, and their right to get hitched? And therefore inflict (and oh, of the intentional sort) some sort of emotional distress? at the least her sort of "distress."

I propose that all gays in America sue her. How does that feel?

I wonder who does her hair now...

The countersuit will seek possession and control of her breasts, with regular visitation between them and the Donald.

Come on, Pareene, show us your investigational chops and follow the money to the right-wing religious group that is putting up the cash to advance her legal cause. Then we've got a story, baby.

Mr. Denton, this should not cost $400K, maybe a plane ticket to California and some good night-vision goggles for some snooping. Petty cash for plying Carrie "I Am Doing This" Precum with drinks and a few soft-core porn offers. I'm sure a Left Coast Gawker commenter can put you up for a few weeks.
