Mark Holden Thinks Idol Needs More Familiar Faces, HINT HINT

Former Australian Idol judge Mark Holden has piped up now that the program’s ratings are suffering and claimed that the show’s woes stem from losing too many members from the original line up. You know, James Mathison, John Foreman, and… oh yeah! A certain carnation throwing, Amorosi-discovering fellow named Mark Holden. TOUCH DOWN!

From the Herald Sun:

Holden said Idol had been more damaged by the loss of Sandilands than the controversy. “Kyle is a friend. I like him,” he said. “The brand has been diluted by the constant changes to the format. “People forget it’s not just Kyle. There’s been many moves. John Foreman’s gone, James Mathison’s gone, and I’m gone. It’s a different show now, but people like stability.”

Holden said Springbett was “a lovely chap” but Idol now lacked humour.

Remember back in the day when Dicko was actually funny? Now it seems he doesn’t have a clue what he’s talking about, he’s just pleased to hear the sound of his own voice. Same goes with Marcia.

Meanwhile, the Herald Sun points out that 21,200 viewers have joined the “Bring Kyle Sandilands Back” Facebook group “compared with 500-odd in groups devoted to axing him from radio and TV. ”

What they’re failing to take into account is that the majority of people watching Idol this year are dribbling idiots, and therefore they’re a) quite likely to be a Kyle Sandilands fan and b) stupid enough to bother joining Facebook groups supportive of Kyle Sandliands.

PLEASE IMPROVE DRAMATICALLY, AUSTRALIAN IDOL. I AM SO SAD YOU’RE A BIT SHIT NOW.

Yep, just a bit shit, but I dunno – I think maybe it’s always been a bit shit, esp at this stage in “the competition”. I’m disappointed with the wildcard choices. Sometimes I wonder how this show and esp the judges who select the contestants can claim to have any credibility whatsoever. Their strike rate is pretty poor.
