Lisa Mitchell Discusses Ruby Rose On Twitter

There’s a great interview with Lisa Mitchell in the latest edition of Melbourne’s Inpress (I’m sure it would’ve been reproduced in other street press across the country) which tickled me in many different ways. For example, I did not know that Lisa lived with the lads from Evermore when she first moved to Melbourne! Did you? Am I simply an idiot?

Anyway, the thing that tickled me the most was Lisa’s comments about Ruby Rose’s prolific Twittering.

Ruby Rose has also suggested on Twitter that the two get together for coffee, having just missed each other in London (”She’s pretty chronic on the old Twitter. Fucking hell, it’s relentless,” Mitchell laughs of Rose before adding that she’ll soon be getting an iPhone to stay better in touch with people).

I like that Lisa is a bit sweary, and I like that she’s surprised a lot of people by becoming way more successful than anyone ever expected a former Idol contestant to be through plenty of hard work (and some rather unexpected support from the likes of Triple J). Here’s her latest clip.

PS: Years ago on our old radio show I’d Rather Jack, Clem Bastow and yours truly asked Lisa to contribute a cover for our Radiothon show. I believe she belted out a version of The Romantics’ “What I Like About You” for RRR – I’ll have to find it and pop it up here, I reckon.

  • I always liked Lisa Mitchell. The thing that I thought was great about her is she forged her own thing after the contest, and created something unique. I hate record company cookie cuttering of great talent – and then the subsequent shelving when it doesn’t sell. It’s just such a waste.

Yes please, to the What I Like About You cover. I am totes pleased about Mitchell’s success…she’s managed to use Idol for good, not evil – did anyone ever think that was even possible?

  • I’ve loved Lisa Mitchell since seeing her very first performance/audition on the Australian Idol. I found her voice to be positively addictive. No one believed me back then when I said she’s an amazing talent who has a massive career ahead… now they finally believe me! Here in the USA we hear her songs on commercials, but not on the radio… yet. ;)
