Jay Dee Springbett Is The New Kyle Sandilands
Yes, Channel Ten have announced their replacement for booted judge Kyle Sandilands, and it’s Sony Music dude Jay Dee Springbett. Not that I have ever heard of him before today. Was he on Idol last night? I was ill and bed-ridden all weekend so I missed the show, I’m afraid. On the upside, he’s not Potato Goodrem!
Let’s learn more about him thanks to the Daily Telegraph.
Australia already knows his pants size but it’s filling the shoes of dumped Australian Idol judge Kyle Sandilands that has Jay Dee Springbett “more than a little nervous”.
Confirming the worst-kept secret in TV, size 40 Springbett was more comfortable talking about his waistline than comparisons with the controversial shock jock he is replacing.
Erm, Australia already knows his pants size? I am hoping this happened on last night’s show or else I’m really out of the (belt) loop.
What will Jay Dee be like on the show? Let the man himself fill you in.
”Once I get over my immense nerves I think you’ll start seeing how I am,” Springbett said. ”What I do for a day job is pretty much assess talent and the one thing I’ve learnt over the years is that you’ve just got to be honest with people. The industry is harsh, and sometimes you need to be harsh but all I can do is try and give them the advantages of my experience.”
Springbett has worked with the likes of Natalie Bassingthwaighte and former Idol contestant Jessica Mauboy.
Well, the Mauboy thing is kinda inspiring, I suppose. I think we can all agree that Jessica Mauboy’s post-Young Divas career has been surprisingly successful.
Can’t wait to see whether Jay Dee (can’t I just call him JD?) is actually any good on the small screen.

He has such a brilliant track record I’m not surprised he got the job. I mean he was responsible for such names as Girlband (OH DEAR), Amy Pearson and Small Mercies all of which have been absolutely massive.
the dude has a myspace! awesome

his heroes are bob marley & gordon gekko. i hope our aspiring idols pitch their performances accordingly to appeal to his tastes – i’m thinking “buffalo soldiers” in an 80s pant suit with giant shoulder pads…
“in the heart of america….. WOY YOY YOY! WOY YOY YOY YOY!” dollar bills rain from the ceiling.. its a hot vibe
