Is Eddie McGuire Triple M’s Newest Recruit?

I would have thought he was far too busy to add “early morning broadcaster” to his already lengthy resume, but it seems as though Eddie McGuire is being considered as a possible member of Triple M’s new breakfast radio crew.

Reports the Herald Sun:

Eddie McGuire is days away from signing a lucrative contract to relaunch his radio career with Triple M.

It is believed McGuire and former Western Bulldogs ruckman Luke Darcy will front Triple M’s early morning breakfast program.

McGuire’s return will spark a radio war in the prime-time breakfast slot.

It’s believed McGuire, a footy commentator with Darcy on sports station SEN 1116, could demand as much as $1 million for his services on the 6-9am show.

McGuire, who is still committed to Channel 9, is working through the details of the Triple M offer. If he signed today, he could be on air as early as Monday, September 14.

Sounds like a pretty blokey breakfast show to me, but maybe that’s what Triple M are aiming for these days? Certainly can’t do them any harm at this point.

And I like Eddie McGuire. I met him the other week and he seemed like a good bloke. And more importantly? His ability to talk about anything in an authoritative manner off the top of his head really impressed me.

No, I’m not being sarcastic.

  • Well, he’s your Dad, isn’t he?

    ;)

Such a shame, in just a few short years Triple-M went from my fave station to a completely inverted version of itself not worth listening to.

I am assuming that this is for the Melbourne radio market only. Having 2 AFL people talking boring AFL will last about 7 seconds in the Sydney market.

Triple M sold their soul years ago. Roy & HG are the only good thing to come out of that station now, and thats only 2 evenings a week.
