Daniel Amalm Will Co-Host ‘The Contender’

Remember Daniel Amalm, ladies and gentlemen? He was on Home & Away years ago. We’re talking 1994-ish. His character Jack used to date Chloe, who was played by Kirsty Wright, who dated Dieter “Shane Parrish” Brummer in real life, who used to go out with Amy Canto who used to be in unsuccessful girl band Cherry. I think my brain just exploded from pissweak nineties pop cultural trivia.

Anyway, why did we start talking about Cherry? Oh yeah, the tenuous link to Daniel Amalm. Well, it turns out Daniel Amalm has been given the job of co-hosting The Contender with Charlotte Dawson. Nice!

Reports MediaWeek:

Foxtel announced this morning that Daniel Amalm will co-host The Contender with Charlotte Dawson. Amalm’s acting career started with Home and Away and nearly 15 years later appeared in the first series of Underbelly, Earlier this year he starred in the movie Two Fists, One Heart. The Contender is being made by Granada for FOX8 and will launch later this year.

But enough of his acting career. Remember when he released his techno version of Classical Gas? Click on the photo of the handsome Daniel below to watch the clip (I HATE YOU, PEOPLE WHO DISABLE THE EMBEDDING OPTION. I HATE YOU, I HATE YOU, I HATE YOU!)

I laughed so hard when I watched this clip this morning. I looked nearly as happy as Daniel does when he sees the names of the folders on his desktop…

Enough. That promo shot is surely all it took to get him the gig. I am sure that its the same photo that you found in barber shops and cheap salons everywhere during the 80’s/90’s.
