Could James Mathison Replace Kyle Sandilands On Idol?
It seems like former Australian Idol host James Mathison is the frontrunner to become the new judge on Australian Idol in the wake of Kyle Sandilands’ sacking. Well, that’s according to Sportingbet Australia. Check out the list of contenders they came up with!

Tina Arena the second favourite? I kinda like that idea, Tina is good value. Molly Meldrum could be amusing (perhaps), and Kate Ceberano is a delight (and could recruit some nice showbiz up and comers for the Scientologists), but Dave Hughes? Are they serious? He’s struggling a bit on The 7PM Project.
In fact, I recently heard a rumour – and it’s just a rumour, so take it with a grain of salt – that Charlie Pickering has been told to stop making so many jokes as he seems to be getting the laughs that Hughesy is failing to grab. Interesting!
Also, I think Carrie Bickmore is really getting into the swing of things. I thought she’d be the weakest point of the show, but I was wrong. Sure, I think the Grown Up Headlines/Brief Discussion format is all wrong and creates a confusing stop-start pace for the show, but I caught some of The 7PM Project last night and Carrie made a couple of great off-the-cuff remarks (in fact, I think one was a joke directed at Hughesy) and I found myself pleasantly surprised. She seems a lot more relaxed in front of the camera.

Hughsey’s biggest problem on the 7pm project is that whenever he tries to be “serious” it sounds silly. And a lot of the time he ends up stumbling trying to find the right words when, usually, he’d just go off onto a loud rant like on Rove (something I’m sure he got told not to do on 7pm)
My money’s on Matt Preston. He’s on everything else.
The dynamics on the 7PM Project are a little askew. Charlie is supposed to be the main host, but Hughesy is the most forceful personality, so can dominate with just a brief remark. Carrie is the motherly personality, who tries to reign the boys in, but she doesn’t quite have the strength to do so effectively (she does that on Nova as well). It’s still early days, but they will find the balance.
Anyways, I am surprised Delta Goodrem isn’t in the Idol Judge list.

How about our own MJ impersonator from Narellan Vale, Mr Jason Jackson? He has automatic street cred ‘coz he can mime over 20 songs whilst still pulling out a ‘Sha-mon’, and you won’t have to spend alot on running costs for him as his mum does drop him to most gigs in her Camry and could probably fit the other hosts in the back seat.
No doubt they will opt for the no-talent Ruby Rose, as there is no better judge in contemporary music than a person who introduces other people’s songs instead of creating their own.
David Reyne? I think we need to deeper into the cast and crew of Sweet & Sour. How about Tracy Mann or Sharon O’Neill?

My goodness, is that a list of the most annoying celebrities? And for the first two, no way. I don’t like to be unkind but JM can’t speak unless he is waving his hand around and TA thinks she knows everything. I would only watch it if Dannii or Kate are on. Love Hughsey but I am not sure that he would suit a serious roll.
