Channel Seven Launches New Cooking Show ‘My Ripoff Rules’

Watch out, Channel Ten! Channel Seven saw what you did there with the whole MasterChef/ratings bonanza thing, and they’re quite happy to shamelessly jump upon the cooking show bandwagon in order to grab themselves a tasty slice of the viewer pie. Wait, am I mixing my metaphors? I suppose the cooking show bandwagon could be serving pies. Let’s move on, shall we?

From the Herald Sun:

Channel 7 has announced its bold plan to cash in on the monster success of MasterChef Australia, launching its nationwide search for the country’s best cooks. Seven is looking for contestants for My Kitchen Rules, which will be produced by the team behind Seven’s restaurant-reality show My Restaurant Rules.

The new series will travel the country with the aim of finding Australia’s best home-cooking team. The teams-of-two in My Kitchen Rules will do battle from their own kitchens in each state.

The aspiring chefs will have to impress judges with unique culinary tricks and use local ingredients in their dishes. The contestants will also have to transform their home into an instant restaurant for one pressure-cooker night, working against the clock to deliver a winning dining experience.

Does the idea of becoming a NQR Julie or NQR Poh appeal to you? Then head to mykitchenrules.com.au to apply for the show.

  • Kinda reminds me of Nine’s Rescue Special Ops cashing in on the whole emergency workers jumping off buildings and shit vibe of Ten’s Rush. Oh, hang on, they’re both produced by Southern Star – are production companies that bereft of ideas?

Is that Special Ops thing just like Police Rescue? Sure I saw Gary Sweet in the promo…

Hey are you guys forgetting that & had My Restaurant Rules long before Master Chef???? So before you start slinging off think back, these were ordinary people having a crack at it. So again & gives the “The People” another chance to show their skills and their ability to transform the humble home into a restaurant for one night!!!! Sounds like a recipe for entertainment, may the best state win???
