ANTM’s Cassi Refused Modelling Contract Due To Weight Concerns
If it’s true that Cassi Van Den Dungen said “Thanks but no thanks” to New York modelling agencies who wished to add her to their books because she was concerned they’d make her lose weight from her already skinny young frame, then I’m impressed.
From the Herald Sun:
The price teenager Cassi Van Den Dungen would have had to pay to model on the world stage was dropping from a skinny size six to a skeletal size four. The Australia’s Next Top Model runner-up was recently criticised for turning down an offer to work with a leading New York model agency. But the already-skinny Sunbury model feared she would be pushed to lose weight.
“I know the international market would want me to lose more weight,” Van Den Dungen said.
And rather than conform to the skinny sizing, the girl dubbed Sunbury’s boganista has, strangely enough, turned into a role model for young women.
“I don’t want to lose any more weight. I’m happy with the way I am and I actually want to put the weight I lost from the stress of the show back on,” she said. “I am already in between a size six and eight but I would like to be a more average size, say between eight and 10.”
Good for you, Cassi! Now there’s a proper reason to give New York the heave-ho. Much better than the whole “I don’t wanna leave my fiance!” explanation that had me rather concerned. Also, you are TOO YOUNG to get married and the whole thing will end in tears – just ask Ricki-Lee!

If the quotes are true than I will happily admit I got it wrong on my summation of this girl. Good on her for being comfortable enough in her own skin (and at that age especially) to blow massive raspberries in the face of that MASSIVE, MASSIVE fuckwit Alex Perry. He only wears those sunnies on top of his head so he can qualify for the minimum height on the Mighty Mouse at Luna Park.
Bogan she may be (all Australians are, just some more than others and the rest of us are living in denial), but she has made a decision that I hope will work out best for her. A season spent on set with the crotch rot that is the fashion industry would have been enough to ward her off a life surrounded by the same.
