Bec Hewitt Still Displeased About The Whole Brother/Lover Mix Up

Bec Cartwright-Hewitt – mother, lover, pop star, and poet – is still a bit unhappy with New idea for accusing her of having an affair with her brother. Some people can be so sensitive. She’s suing, them, of course. They sorry, but not sorry enough to reveal their sources.

New Idea has apologised to Bec Hewitt for a story labelling her brother as the new “special guy” in her life – but the magazine will still fight to protect its sources. Hewitt launched legal action against publisher Pacific Publications in July, seeking to find out who told the magazine her brother Shaun Cartwright was the new man in her life.

The story was based on photographs of the pair taken in the US in April and Hewitt wants to know where the information for the corresponding story came from. Yesterday PacPubs issued an apology for the story to Hewitt but indicated it would fight to protect its sources when legal argument is heard in the South Australian Supreme Court on Friday.

And I can totally see why they’d want to hold onto a savvy, switched on source who knows so little about the person they’re investigating that they confuse a brother for a mystery lover.

(I know, I know… it’s the principle of the thing)
