YouTube Clip Of The Day

Today’s Clip Of The Day isn’t anything funny, it’s just a nice clip for a tune I really like. And after two weeks of dodgy internet connection (now fixed, hurrah!), temperamental computer (hopefully fixed, praise be!), and broken email (still a bit stuffed, sadly) it has proven itself to be quite a comforting little track indeed.

It’s Explode by Uh Huh Her.

I’m ashamed to say I was sent the Uh Huh Her record back in 2007 twice and didn’t bother listening to it because I figured that since the group contained the fabulous Leisha Hailey – star of The L Word and angry strumming lady from The Murmurs of “and now there’s dust on my guitar, you fuck” fame – that it’d be another chicks-with-heaps-of-feelings-and-access-to-an-acoustic ensemble, a genre that is delightful for some but one that I’m kinda bored of after spending my late teens obsessed with the collected works of Ani Di Franco.

BUT IT DOESN’T SOUND ANYTHING LIKE THAT AS YOU CAN SEE/HEAR. It is menacingly sexy, and I can’t stop listening to it. And I’m furious at myself because I COULD have been listening to this song since 2007 but because I thought I knew everything, I missed out. An important lesson has been learned here, people.
