The 7pm Project Launches On Channel Ten Tonight

Are we all excited about yet another panel show hitting the screens where celebrities make complicated things like “news” and “current affairs” palatable for the moronic public? Actually, I kinda am. Although part of me is sighing inside and thinking “Yet another show featuring Rove’s mates on the telly”, there’s this other less cynical part of me desperately wanting the show to work. Can’t hurt to have something decent to watch on the small screen at 7pm each night now, can it?

Here are Defamer Australia’s chief concerns regarding The 7pm Project.

1. How many times will Dave Hughes exclaim “SEEEEEEERIOUSLY” – seriously? Anything under four can be forgiven due to the infamous Kyle-Sandilands-is-a-massive-dickhead speech (up there with “I have a dream” in my books).

2. Will Carrie Bickmore be amusing and quick-witted and not just token pretty female employed to laugh at the menfolk? Will she hold her own? I’ve never seen her deliver the goods off-the-cuff but I’m hoping against hope that she veers from the trail blazed by Jackie O on The Nation and wins my heart.

3. If I don’t like the show and say so, will Ruby Rose cancel future drinks dates with me?

Anyway, I propose we all meet back here and banter while the show is on.

UPDATE! I have made some notes, and they’ll be online first thing tomorrow. Still keen to hear what you thought of it!

    Meh.

  • I think it really worked. It’s nice to have a show at 7, and to also have a news program that isn’t all doom and gloom, allowing us to learn the headlines of the day, but not have to watch 5 minute investigations into each one.

And who would’ve thought James would be funny? I thought he was great.

Carrie’s voiceovers were a nice reminiscent of Rove days.

Terrible, and as for ruby rose’s interview with sienna and the other chick, camera angles everywhere made me wanna puke like i was watching a von trier film.

SEEEEriously, folks, if you want to see this show could be done, take a few minutes to watch past shows of Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show (http://www.thedailyshow.com/). Its not too late to change it for the better. In other words, more of the satire, and less of the cruel mocking, which seeeriously ain’t too funny.

The interview with Dr.Phil was the best interview I’ve seen in ages. Questions were well thought out and not run of the mill. Well done. Keep the show going, something to watch at 7 brilliant, and will probably get better.

    Hi there,
a comment about Jimmy barnes on the show tomorrow night.
Ask Jimmy about performing at the Largs Pier with Lady Largs. What a wild place that was in the late seventies.
