Onion Sale Announcement Monday?
Earlier this week, we heard the Onion was in talks to sell to a large media company; now we’re told there’s some sort of announcement or internal meeting scheduled Monday in relation to the rumoured buyout.
A tipster in contact with the company says employees have been told the company will provide them with more information on the purported deal talks on the 20th. As traumatic as an acquisition can be, many on the editorial side would no doubt be relieved to work for a buyer ready to abandon Onion management’s recent orders to pander to advertisers in order to stave off further financial losses.

What will be hilarious is the new owner is in New York, and makes all those poor people who just moved to Chicago move back to NYC, or, even worse, redundant.

And the Helman!
@resipsaloquacious: I'd rather bring out the Hellmann's (and bring out the best)!

But I am trying to bring the ZING!
@resipsaloquacious: I've had just about enough of your body-shaming.
Re: Ad/Post immediately above: Gawker Just Fucking Jumped the Whale!
Well, alls I gots to say is in the past, the first thing that would happen if a rumor were false would be the immediate response of pointing to the Onion head "Factual Error Found On Internet" but not this time.
So something is definitely a-brewing.
Just one question: Why then is the Onion’s store doing a 48-hour sale on all merchandise? Connected or bad timing.
Shall we place bets on the purchaser? I'm thinking CBS Interactive, since they seem to be desperate to purchase websites that their geeky teenage sons read (see: CNet, Last.FM, etc.).
