Michael Jackson’s Doctor Injected The Drug That Killed Him

Hey remember that entertainer person who died a few weeks ago? What was his name again—oh yeah, Michael Jackson! Well it looks like forensic investigators looking into his death are finally putting together the pieces of the puzzle.

Though no official cause of death has been released at this point, the AP is reporting that the police investigators looking into Jackson’s death have determined that it was the powerful anesthetic propofol that caused the pop singer’s death and they are convinced that it was Dr. Conrad Murray, Jackson’s personal physician, who administered the lethal dose.

Reports the Times Online:

Jackson was regularly given propofol to help him sleep. The drug, also known as Diprivan, is used to induce unconsciousness in hospital patients before major surgery. Reports have said that it was found in Jackson’s home.

Police officers and federal drug agents have searched the doctor’s offices under a warrant allowing authorities to seek “property or items constituting evidence of the offence of manslaughter that tend to show that Dr Conrad Murray committed the said criminal offence”.

The AP report also says that the official results of the toxicology report ordered by the LA coroner should be made available to the public later in the week.

Will we ever know the actual facts in this case? So many angles need to be examined. We have the tour promoter stating that "Michael insisted on this Doctor's care", but was he "planted" by them with an abundant supply of this drug?

If it is such a "controlled" substance, why were the vials not tracked better, and how did the drugs found at MJ's home go unaccounted for?

When the final rehearsal footage is seen, how can Michael's several hours of dancing, singing and performing be explained away? You cannot fake his energy level and movements, after which he got in hos car on his own two feet, and all of this just hours before his demise.

Smarmy Dr. Murray (hand in the cookie jar smile) who knew that this drug could stop the heart took a cat nap? He wanted to fly in the orbit of MJ, yet he administered this dangerous and illegal drug to him, and then did not even take the severe precautions (constant monitoring of Michael's vital signs while under the influence) to protect the patient he was administering illegal and dangerous drugs to, and notwithstanding saving his own skin from a murder rap.

Michael is gone, nothing can change that. Quite possibly Michael made some mistakes in his life, (who hasn't?) but the fact remains that he was an enormous talent and had the capacity to energize masses of people through his artistry.

What is certain in this case is that "loose" drugs, just like "loose" nukes need to be watched much better than they are at this moment.

Dr. Murray had every opportunity to stay away from this situation, but the chose to involve himself in risky and dangerous behavior. Just goes to show you how connected we all are as so many people's lives have been altered due to this situation.

    Will any lessons be learned?

    R.I.P. Michael

@PaisleyPajamas: Maybe it's because he only got involved with MJ for the last two months of his life when a lot of the damage had been done.

Or maybe I'm just a dumb ass bleeding heart.

@Steverino Begins: This stuff is used in general anesthesia? WTH? Jackson should have been intubated nightly to sleep?

@PaisleyPajamas: Clearly, he went to Hollywood Upstairs Medical School.

@PaisleyPajamas: I don't know what you are talking about. I happen to know that Outer Mongolia has the finest finest medical school in the region.

@Brian Fowler: I can't feel sorry for any doctor giving Diprivan as a sleep-aid.

@labyrinthine IS DOING THIS: if you mean that when people are addicted to painkillers and are wealthy and have a history of seeking out bizarro scientific procedures (skin bleaching) you can guess that they'll eventually seek out the strongest, craziest shit and find the most oblivious, crazy doctors to administer it, then yeah, me too...

  • PaisleyPajamas

@Brian Fowler: Is that because he was using a pharmaceutical for "off label" purposes, or because he didn't know how to perform CPR (according to the 911 call)?

All i want to know is where did this guy go to med school? Sheesh!

  • PaisleyPajamas

@Steverino Begins: You just nailed it my friend. The fact that MJ's "doctors" were probably not educating him on the full extent of what "might" happen is what is at issue here.

  • Steverino Begins

@jbwan: Yep, and so it goes with MJ reporting. Who knows what the truth is.

I also wonder if he really knew how deadly this drug was. Or if he just asked his dealers/docs what would help him sleep, and they were like "Take some Propofol but not on an empty stomach." Because that is just insane. An anesthesiologist friend of mine says that stuff is basically designed to stop a patient's breathing. Then they let machines breathe for the patient while they operate. Then it eventually wears off.

This was bound to end up in the morgue. The question is whether MJ really knew that.

@The Cajun Boy: Now TMZ's reporting that Dr. Murray told investigators he injected MJ with propofol hours before he died, and that authorities believe he may have fallen asleep afterward and woken up to find Jackson dead from a heart attack. I just posted it over at ONTD a little while ago:

@mattchew03: Actually watching the repeat of it now.

I know this man may have been at least criminally negligent, if not comitting outright malpractice. But I kinda feel sorry for him.

In a related story, Dr. Conrad Murray has been hired as the personal physician to one Miss Britney Spears.

I don't know what is more surprising...the fact that LaToya Jackson was right or the fact that John Amos from Good Times killed her brother.

@Xylo: But in all honesty, are you surprised?

Talk about "off-label use". Jesus. I can't believe it's legal for this stuff to be removed from the vicinity of a hospital operating room.

    @labyrinthine IS DOING THIS:

I so agree with you. It's almost impossible not to have seen it coming from the first day that there was a statement by the paramedics on the scene about what they found.

The news people were completely right about the Space Shuttle Columbia. Miles O'Brian was talking about the foam hitting the tiles instantly.

@son of spam: I knew there was something off from that picture. Aside from the whole "murdering the King of Pop" thing.

  • Lizawithazee

Is this what I was talking about? Because I think it might be.

  • mattchew03

@The Cajun Boy: Did you catch any of AC360 tonight? I didn't hear exactly what they were reporting, but it had something to do with two women hurriedly removing a plethora of files from Dr. Murray's Houston office on the morning Jackson died, about two hours before the 911 call was placed, and they were speculating that maybe Jackson was in trouble hours before paramedics arrived and that Dr. Murray was trying to cover his tracks before shit went down...

  • jasonelias

All of the precautions they give against using this stuff when you need it, MJ taking it at home like it's Nyquil. It would be oddly humorous if it wasn't so stupid and deadly. I'd love to know how long he had been taking it.

  • jbwan

half the articles I've read say Jackson was about to make the biggest comeback in history. That he was at the top of his game, etc. Half the articles say he was a walking corpse who might have died midway through the first song on his first concert. The insane thing is this news might not help me decide which one to believe. It could really go either way- e was pushing himself so hard, he needed the strong drug to help him relax, or he was in such pain and agony that he needed the drug to relax...

  • son of spam

That guy's got a bad case of politician smile.

  • Tart of Darkness

    @Island of Misfit Toys:

Probably the reason that UCLA doctors were puzzled when Murray continued to do CPR on Jackson in the emergency room after they had already declared him dead.

He was pumping for the bucks, you know? some medical people recommend doing cpr to the rhythm of "Staying Alive" although ER docs say they use "Another One Bites the Dust". Murray must have been using "She Works Hard for the Money."

    He is scum.

  • The Cajun Boy

@labyrinthine IS DOING THIS: I have to admit, I knew there would be some ridiculous shit coming out in the investigation into his death, but to be given the same stuff they give people who are put under for surgery so he can sleep at night...WHAT. THE. FUCK.

  • Colander

@Island of Misfit Toys: Better still. It's much cheaper to fill a syringe chablis than diprivan. Pocket the difference and it's gangbusters! You could even use it to pay your bail!

  • Island of Misfit Toys

@Thomas Paladino: He was getting paid $150,000 a month. I bet quite a few healers would accept the risk of jail for that cash.

Surgical anesthetic in order to sleep every night? How about a few Tylenol PM and a glass of wine? Or hell, even a Valium or three?

Sorry, but any doctor that is shooting up an individual with those kinds of drugs as a sleeping pill deserves to be behind bars.
