Awww, Rob Mills Supports Gay Marriage!
After reading through the list of the Crappest 100 Songs Of All Time on The Punch, I began perusing the site to see which other knowledgeable slightly famous folks were offering up their opinions on things. I spotted former Australian Idol star (and the Aussie who met Paris Hilton in 2003 and proceeded to get all up in dem guts) Rob ‘Millsy’ Mills staring at me, and lured by his handsome mug, found myself reading his piece It’s time to allow gay marriage in Australia.
C’mon, Rob!
Can you believe that in 2009 we don’t allow same-sex couples to get married? It happens in all around the world. Not just where’d you expect like Holland and Sweden. But places like Spain and South Africa. It makes Australia look a little behind.
He’s absolutely right, you know. It’s not just those flaming countries like Holland and Sweden allowing the gays to get hitched, but tough macho straight-acting places like Spain and South Africa!
Society says its fine for gays to tailor your wedding suit, chauffeur you, co-ordinate the reception, even stand up and declare you man and wife.
But my gay friends aren’t stereotypes, they’re real people with real hearts and their love for their partners is just as precious as the love between a man and a woman. And they want to get married for exactly the same reasons as everyone else does. They’re in love. They want to make a commitment to each other.
I don’t see how allowing same-sex couples to get married hurts anyone else. Marriage brings so much joy, not to mention for families and friends. Every mum wants to see her son or daughter get married. It shouldn’t make any difference if her kid’s gay.
And what about the kids raised by gay people? They deserve the stability that comes with marriage, just like all Aussie kids. All of us benefit when there’s a bit more love in the world.
You know what, Millsy? Spot on. And god bless you for penning such a heartfelt plea for marriage equality. The Pink Mafia won’t forget this kindness, mark my words.

Have you been watching jay (from Jay and Silent Bob fame) walking the streets of london trying out his pickup lines?
Call me a cynic but this very aptly timed plea from the shallow Millsy, smacks of someone trawling for the Pink vote for his Dancing With The Stars quest, he is just too obvious. But God he needs all the help he can get as his dancing is abysmal.
