Are Kyle And Jackie O Buying Twitter Followers?
It seems hard to believe that anyone in their right mind could accuse ultra charismatic and likable radio pair Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O of needing to buy friends on social media sites. Surely Kyle’s pleasant personality and Jackie O’s razor sharp wit would be more than enough reason to want to follow the pair’s every move? But Confidential are asking some serious questions about the Austereo power couple’s astounding popularity on Twitter.
It’s going to be hard for Kyle and Jackie O to refute the claims of an anonymous “online expert”!
An online expert contacted Confidential yesterday and noted that more than 100 of the radio personalities’ oddly-named followers to their social networking site shared three things in common: they are virtually inactive, don’t have profile pictures and follow exactly 20 people.
The one thing they share, is an apparent love of Kyle and Jackie O. On Wednesday, at least 20 of them updated their page about the same time – 12.30pm – with generic statements like “bored” or “chilling at home”. One follower, screen name bia-zina, wrote: “oi Galera, bjs tahaii.”
This, to Confidential’s knowledge, is not even a language
Actually, the above sounds exactly like what I’d expect from a Kyle & Jackie O fan. Dull, too ugly for photographs, and possibly retarded. And now Kyle & Jackie O have over 170,000 of these folks gripped by their every update!
Producers at rival FM shows have noticed the increase in followers.
“Rove has a much higher national profile than Kyle and Jackie O yet he only has half the amount of followers as they do,” one said.
By contrast, their main competitors, Merrick Watts, Tim Ross and Kate Ritchie, yesterday had only 4776 followers.
Sonia Kruger and Todd McKenny had 1040.

i’m too lazy to check their twitter (wouldn’t want to give them anything re: click through or web stats anyways), but could it also be that they’re just too lazy/underhanded to delete the creepy twitter followers who advertise the latest way to claim your missing millions from nigeria?
still. that’s a helluva lot of followers. note to kyle & jackie o (Vile and Jackie Ho? sorry, couldn’t resist) : no. of twitter followers does not relate to the no. of people/idiots who listen to your show. YOUR SHOW SUCKS. PLEASE GO AWAY FOREVER.
i will forever love Dave Hughes for apologizing to us about Kyle being a massive dickhead. Truer words have not been spoken, I tells ya.
Dave might not be so full of his sense of self importance but he’s not that much funnier either. He’s actually as about as funny as a car crash. Did you see him at the Logies? What a prat.
Comedy is largely a personal taste, and whilst I find Dave Hughes OK but a little tedious, at least his self-deprecating style is more interesting then Sandliands and his mixture of flat sarcasm and bullying. I sincerely hope that someone does a Perez Hilton v Black Eyed Peas and punches this fuckwit in the face. I personally volnteer my services.
