What Is Sonia Kruger Like In Real Life?

Even though we used to refer to Sonia Kruger as Defamer Australia’s BFF (the position has since been taken over by The Bass), the truth is I have no idea what she’s like in real life. Thankfully, my new favourite gossip column Coast (as in “Gold”) Confidential has the details.

The big reveal occurs in a nice little piece about Gold Coast fashion.

Gold Coasters are the fashion trend-setters of Australia, according to stylist Jane Johnston. The AFI Award-winning designer told Tugun father Craig Dight, when he was on the makeover reality series 10 Years Younger in 10 Days, that many trends start on the Gold Coast. “She told me Gold Coast people set trends for a lot of fashion statements around Australia,” Dight tells CC.

A few years ago I described myself as dressing “like a deranged homeless person who stole their torn wardrobe from Savers” and it’s safe to say that’s still a fairly accurate description of my fashion efforts (although sometimes my brilliantly hip friend Natty sells me charming couture at her store Hummingbird 60 which means these days I have something slightly more upmarket to wear when meeting people like Tina Arena) so I am unable to vouch for the Gold Coast’s fashion credentials. Any Vogue Australia reading types want to back up Jane Johnston’s claims?

“I wondered if she was going to have that out-going personality she portrays on TV and she does,” he says. “Tracy and I talked to her about the Gold Coast. She’s funny too, even off camera.”

So I guess the answer to the all important question “What is Sonia Kruger like in real life?” is “Out-going, funny, and likes to talk about the Gold Coast.”
