Please do not lecture me on investigative usage, forensics, etc. I am also sort of aware of that too. I still believe it is shameful for this photo to have been made public.

I applaud Gawker and Post Chronicle for publishing the photo. Censorship, in the form of self-censorship and legal surpression, is coming to the Internet. It is better to know the truth, as hard-core as it may seem, than to live in pablum.

Agreeing with Tiraspol Groom. While the circumstances are disturbing, the photo itself is not very graphic. Foster linking to it gives you the opportunity *not* to see it.

@BxgrlJeri: It's news and this photographic evidence proves something very important, that he didn't commit suicide. If the picture had never been taken the police could have claimed it an accidental death to avoid the hassle. Don't click on the link if you don't want but stop whining about it. Foster and Gawker made the right move.

Just saying, but that hotel room looks much more like a one-star than a five-star. I forget the name of the place were the RC was staying, but I believe it must have been nicer than this. Hard to tell from the picture quality but it looks like the individual pictured has black hair. Thai papers have a habit of covering much of the deceased body with little squiggly lines (pictures of murder victims, suicides, traffic accidents, etc., are common on the front page of Thai newspapers) so that makes identification a bit harder.

My point in all this is that the picture could easily be of someone else who suffered a similar fate, or could be 100% faked. There have been quite a few suspicious deaths in Thailand recently. The police are bumbling, corrupt stooges. It will be interesting to see what intensified international interest in pressure will do in this situation, if anything.

Morbid curiosity got the best of me. Sorry! I can only say what I saw posted was a small picture of a picture, with the entire head blacked out and a grainy pattern over most of the body. It was sad and icky, but I was strangely relieved because it doesn't really show anything other than the general position of the body. It's unconscionable to publish it, but it's not like you look at it and think "Wow, that's David Carradine!"

My sympathies go out to his family, but I've always thought that there must be a Thai sex worker or some similarly compromised individual out there who really knows that happened. I don't think you can tell from that picture how his hands were tied (if they indeed were). It's incredibly easy to make a slipknot, put your hands through it and pull or in this case hang from it and have it go tight. So it doesn't indicate that anybody else was ever in the room. And from what I've read elsewhere on the net, there is surveillance camera footage that doesn't show anybody else entering or exiting the room. I think we are right back where we started on this until some of the particulars are answered by the police and the autopsy results.
