Don’t You Know Black Guys Control All The Banks And Media?

Rush Limbaugh unleashed an exquisite blast of paranoia on Fox News show last night, predicting that newspapers, television networks, and radio networks will all go bankrupt (true), at which point Obama will personally take them over (crazy).

It’s a fine bit of economic analysis on Limbaugh’s part: The ad recession is killing the news media, so they all need loans from banks, and since Obama runs the banks (he doesn’t!), he will wield that influence to bail media companies out and bring them all to heel.

Which Obama would absolutely do, because he’s getting such shitty coverage these days.

Thanks I'll be here all night...

Obama owns everything, he owns the moon and stars and Rush's receding hairline.

    @C-jacks1: Ha... haha... BAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • C-jacks1

@rockandhardPL: You know what got us here? The 'Community Reinvestment Act' Carter enacted in 1977, Reagan banged it back down then it was ramped back up under Clinton - banks were forced to make loans to non-qualified buyers. Starting in 2004 Republicans in Congress saw the potential for total disaster ahead but the Democrat-controlled Housing Committee refused to allow regulators to come anywhere near their precious cash cow. They were personally making millions. Here they are - in their own words - denying that there is a problem:

    P.S. - Capitalism works - every time - Baby.

    @Go Like Hell Machine:

I have a suspicion that C-jacks1 is an Obama-lovin' liberal having some fun playing an unhinged right-wing paranoiac on the internet. His comments are just too comical not to be written in the spirit of parody.

Has Rush been eating babies again? Whatta fatty.

  • Mediahohoho

He's never very far from his big gold penis substitute, is he?

  • rockandhardPL

@C-jacks1:Wow, where do I begin. Were you here for the last 8 years? Did you prefer that? One of the reasons our biggest companies are going bankrupt as are the people our government serves is because they must provide health care and benefits that other countries can and do take for granted. Canada, for example, is leaps and bounds in better shape than we are and no one would call Canada a socialist state. You are ridiculously paranoid and definitely even more so than Rush. I get it, its hard to pay for a lot of what Obama wants, but you and your lots response to just leave things alone and the market will figure it out...guess what douche, it doesn't. Had it done so, hundreds and thousands of people in this country would not be suffering right now. Same across the world. Go crawl back up into Rush's ass and die. Thanks.

  • Go Like Hell Machine

@C-jacks1: Oh, that's right, I forgot the part where Obama went around seizing and nationalizing huge swaths of the American economy and is forcing everyone to swear loyalty to the state.

I'm just curious, do you actually shout at the computer screen when typing in all capital letters? Maybe scream it out a few times to make sure it comes out in a sufficiently accusatory, blowhardish way? Because that's what I picture when I see a comment that includes the following:
    -All capital letters
    -Socialist
    -Liberal
    -Obama

And then I see Jim Newell over at Wonkette laughing hysterically. At least, in my head.

    Oh, Rush... Why so screamy?

  • AndIAmTellingYou

@Mymoustache: I love how Obama's "destroying the nation". It's like Bush-Cheney, et al were never even part of the equation.

@C-jacks1: That's nothing compared to the reeducation camps we'll all soon be forced to attend. But considering the Obamas' good fashion sense, I'm looking forward to the stylish mandated uniforms.

At what point do Limbaugh's listeners realize that he has officially fallen into a caricature of himself? He's been reduced to black helicopter type nonsense in light of this president's media acumen.

    Ryan Danahey

  • kneetoe

@mossdale: Don't forget talk radio, of course, but also all the local papers all over the country that many people get, or used to get, their news/opinions from, the vast majority of which are right wing (alright, I should probably give a source for that, but finding one would cut into my work productivity).

  • mossdale

@ShanghaiLil: I've pointed out the same, and got a response listing ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, "all the newspapers," NPR and such, as if the numbers of media outlets "on the left" collectively outweighed FOX's recent increase. Then, I see FOX crowing they beat out CNN and MSNBC combined. And this doesn't even take into account right wing talk radio, or the internets. It is clear the canard about the MSM is now officially bullshit. That said, I find it interesting, though not surprising, that FOX is really cashing in on Obama hate. Frankly, this election was the best thing ever to happen to them.

It should be noted that C-Jack-hoo-ha for all his/her crazy eye yelling is correct. Carter, and then later Clinton pressured Fannie Mae into the housing loans that are now what we are terming "high risk" and attributed to the housing bubble bursting. They did indeed deregulate.
    Google Clinton and Fannie Mae.
I am a liberal by the way. I think it is important not to get lax no matter what party is in power. The Democrats held sway in Congress for 40 years before they got corrupt and it swung around during the Republican Revolution in 1995. Now that it is Democrat again doesn't mean its all "good." I mean, they are politicians...

I just want health care reform, re-regulations on banking, and better agriculture. Already the health insurance lobby is altering promised reforms... And they are doing it by pressuring the Democratic majority congress...

  • rockandhardPL

@franimaljones:I actually think it's completely a wingnut hi-jacking gawker. The New York Times has a great article about how Bush promoting home ownership strongly contributed to the current mess. It simplifies things, but for C-jacks1 to insinuate that this is a Democratic problem is just a lie.

Further, I would love to hear people like this tool explain defense spending for the last 8 years? Or Reagonics with its precious trickle down theory which is actually not true because the wealthy are more likely to save and hoard than to spend. Not that I think we need to be giving money away (I am hardly a fiscal liberal) but let's not talk out of our asses C-jacks--who is more likely to spend and stimulate an economy that is based on consumer spending (or at least 70%)? Do you think it will be the wealthiest top percent or the poor lady who needs to buy diapers for her kids? It is too complicated a mess to ascribe blame to one party, but you have to agree that the shitshow that would ensue if Obama were not trying to put at least a few safety nets in place would be horrid. It happened before. Want to join a breadline?

  • ChillbearLatrigue

@Mymoustache: There are answers coming from the right, but they are not well received.

On bailing out the auto-makers in January: Let them go bankrupt now, rather than funneling taxpayer dollars into them just to let them go bankrupt a few months from now. What happened? We funneled taxpayer dollars to two of them and those two have now declared bankruptcy.
Analysis: What was at stake was the Union contracts. The bankruptcy allows them to renegotiate the contracts with the workers. Propping them up kept the bankruptcy alive.

On the February "stimulus package": There was a package proposed by McCain (who I know lost, but you want alternate solutions) that was about 45% of the size of the one that passed. It was obviously rejected. However, nearly the entire package would have been spent by now in the hands of the people who actually stimulate the economy. Instead we went with the larger package, only 20% of which has been spent.
Analysis: McCain's plan was cheaper and would have had twice the stimulative effect at the current time. There's more to this, but it's Gawker, alright? McCain's plan had almost no pork and didn't support non-stimulative government programs.

North Korea and Iran: No headway from either side. We'll call that a tie.

The solutions are routinely shot down with the dismissal phrase: "well isn't that what got us here in the first place." There may be some merit to that in some cases, but don't pretend that no one from the right is offering solutions. If you don't like the ones the Republican leadership is offering, ask me, I will give you some more that you don't like.
