United States Of Tara Is Excellent Viewing

I’ve been looking for a new television show to fall in love with, and I think I’ve managed to find it. Why, it’s Our Toni’s United States Of Tara!

Here’s all the info you need.

This is probably the best show I’ve seen all year. I know the US Defamer panned it when it came out in the States, but it’s important to remember that Diablo Cody mockery was very popular back then, and being the first to sneer at anything and everything seemed to be standard business practice, bless.

Yours truly, on the other hand, is an idiot with no dignity or pride, and I’m always quite happy to be pleasantly surprised by something and admit as much publicly. United States Of Tara is just fucking wonderful, in my humble opinion. There are very few “honest to blog” dialogue moments (thanks for keeping yourself in check, Diablo!), Toni Collette is simply wonderful (and so is the rest of the cast), and I was surprised to find myself completely won over within the first ten minutes of the first episode.

Happily, if you’re an Australian viewer who prefers it when brand new television shows from overseas are not continually screwed over and moved from timeslot to timeslot before eventually being yanked off the air in order to make way for a repeat of Hole In The Motherfucking Wall, you’ll be pleased to learn that the ABC have grabbed United States Of Tara, although no word yet as to when they’ll be airing it.
