The Logies Are “The B And S ball Of Australian Television”

I enjoyed Marieke Hardy’s column in The Age today about The Biggest Loser finale & Sunday night’s Logies ceremony very much, and thought I should bring it to your attention.

Says Hardy:

Everything’s a “special”, a “night of nights”, a “grand finale”, and paced with the sort of plodding gait more commonly witnessed in heroin-addicted snails. Obviously this past fortnight we’ve been treated not only to everyone’s favourite ex-teamsters The Biggest Losers stepping free of their skin-flap shackles in a dazzling display of commercial television triumph, but also the B and S ball of Australian television, the 51st Logie Awards. Aren’t we lucky?

Probably the best description of this year’s Logies I’ve read all week.

Also, this made me laugh out loud (or LOL as the kids say).

At least The Biggest Loser never pretended to be cool…

There was fist-pumping and “you bewdy!” and an incredibly bad computer graphic thing where newly svelte losers paraded down the catwalk alongside their plodding old obese selves, only to give their ex-existence a stagey “see you never!!!”-type kiss-off at the end.

.. it would have been 10 shades of awesome to use a similar technique at the Logies (who wouldn’t want to see Dannii Minogue traipsing down a catwalk and waving goodbye to her old face?)

Ha! I am actually kinda sad Dannii Minogue didn’t do this.
