Karl Stefanovic No Doubt Cracking Open The Champers As We Speak

Karl Stefanovic’s post-Logies state seems to have won the man quite a few admirers – including Channel Nine management. Yes, the folks in charge at Nine are apparently planning on giving Stefanovic the plum job currently held by Tracy Grimshaw, the host A Current Affair.

Reports The Daily Telegraph:

Following his uncharacteristically jolly post-Logies appearance on Today, host Karl Stefanovic appears to be on the end of a planned “promotion” at Channel 9 following word that he is poised to land the top job as host of A Current Affair. For some time, Stefanovic has been odds-on favourite to replace ACA host Tracy Grimshaw, who has been agitating for some time for a change of role at the network.

While some might believe Stefanovic’s silly gibbering appearance on Today would perhaps make him a greater threat to Australia’s Funniest Home Videos host Shelley Craft, new news boss Darren Wick is said to have seen an opportune moment to kill three birds.

And where will Grimshaw go? It seems her hard-hitting interview with Matthew Johns means she’s ready to handle more Serious Journalism, so she’s gonna head to 60 Minutes.

Oh, and it’s nice of the Tele to point out the fine job Lisa Wilkinson’s been doing on Today.

The one person secure in this reshuffle is Lisa Wilkinson, who has won favour at the network for her professionalism, not least of all during Stefanovic’s recent blunder. “The problem for Nine execs now is that Lisa is looking like the dominant anchor of Today – a role that traditionally went to the person seated to the left, Karl.” a source said.

“Now Nine can look for a serious older man to pair with Lisa.”

Yes, we wouldn’t want a woman to play the role of dominant anchor for too long. Best rush a “serious older man” to the set!

Seriously, does Karl have photographs of a Channel Nine executive fellating a goat? How does this bland, untalented, unfunny man remain employed as anything other than a weekend weatherman?
