Guy Sebastian Is A BIG SUCCESS!

Now that people have stopped trying to mug him in the street and steal his meatball sandwiches, Guy Sebastian has been able to focus all his energies on making it big overseas. And from the sounds of it, he’s edging closer and closer to earning the right to be called Our Guy by the press!

Reports the Daily Telegraph:

For an Aussie artist trying to crack the US, there’s only one thing better than radio play – a TV deal. And audiences of American network NBC are set to be humming to Guy Sebastian’s Like It Like That for months after the track is being used as the broadcaster’s theme song for its summer promotional campaign.

TALK ABOUT CRACKING THE STATES!!!! THIS IS HOW YOU GODDAMN DO IT, ARE YOU TAKING NOTES ROBBIE WILLIAMS?!?!?

Having already featured on the recent finale of Celebrity Apprentice, the song will also be played during The Biggest Loser.

Hmmm, I’m not entirely convinced a song called Like It Like That would be wholly appropriate for a show like The Biggest Loser. Won’t it make all the contestants think of Kentucky Fried Chicken and encourage a relapse?

    Bad TV shows both losers,sorry

Cathy, I think you need to read it again. It’s not the TV shows that he got. It’s the NBC Summer Preview commercial. Who cares what shows they play it in?

Sheesh, Guy!! Slow down a bit. You’ve barely arrived in NYC. Try and do the humble struggling musician for at least a couple of years.

And I just heard the song on 2Day FM. It isn’t even released anywhere yet. The Mess and Noise forum will not be amused.

  • While I maintain my opinion of the Australian Idol machine(and I know this serves as a BIG point of difference as an Idol fan Jess!) I am quite happy that Guy has managed to take it all the way – good on him! He is good talent.

Jeez tall poppy syndrome still alive and kicking by some!
Way to go Guy , true talent always wins out in the end , and you have it in spades .

  • Love “Like it Like That” Catchy Tune :-) Well Done Guy !!!!!

I guess the Anti-Idol folk won’t like his success, but having seen Guy live recently and hearing his new song “Like It Like That”, it great to see the Americans can be more open minded and support good talent – where-ever he got his start. Huge congrats to Guy, he deserves all the recognition in the world.

Way to go Guy!!! Congratulations, you deserve it, 5 years of hard work since winning Idol. Even greater success to come I hope!

  • Maureen

Our Guy? Hope he becomes THEIR Guy – please keep him, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, KEEP HIM!

  • Seems the US have no preconceived ideas – they recognise sublime talent for what it is!

Very proud that an Aussie is being recognised pretty much straight away after only a few months living over there – making the hard 5 year slog in OZ honing his artistry worth every minute!

By the way, Macy’s is set to use one of his new songs in their advertising campaign also – way to go Guy!

Talent instantly recognised by Steve Cropper, John Mayer, David Ryan Harris and other great American musicians, and now it seems the American advertising world as well. Well done Guy. Australian music snobs may be a little on the slow side, but they may wake up one day.

Well I never!! Been almost what, 6 – 7 years? Should have gone there before, obviously people over there listen, instead of ranting on about somebody they’ve never bothered to listen or look at. John Farnham, the king here, had the same problem with OZ, and left it too late. Glad the Guy has got over there finally, taken the missus, enjoying all the fun. I’ve listened to the clips, and looking foward to the new album with both John Mayer and Colonel Cropper.
