Lindsay Lohan Breakdown Is A Tabloid Feeding Frenzy

One might assume that months of teary, yelling, storming-out fights between Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson sated readers’ appetites for details of the couple’s drama. But it just made everyone hungrier for the big breakup.

That’s what the celebrity media is betting at least. Us Weekly scored the biggest coup in the current news cycle: an on the-record interview with Lohan.

“It’s absolute hell,” Lohan told Us… Lohan says she’s “so alone” without Ronson.

“Everyone’s turned on me,” says the actress.

Socialite Nicole Richie, Lohan reports, said “Uck” as she walked by Lohan following a Lohan-Ronson showdown at Chateau Marmont, while actress Drea De Matteo told Lohan, “Come at me, bitch.” It sounds like there just might be another side to the story there. Anyway.

Us also quoted “sources” saying Lohan has threatened to kill herself repeatedly over the past month in response to Ronson trying to extricate herself from the relationship. The magazine rushed its coverage onto the cover of Wednesday’s issue, where it describes Lohan as “Dumped, humiliated, broke & crying.”

National Enquirer sibling RadarOnline, meanwhile, has “rehab graduate” Lohan “chugging” a bottle of Belvedere vodka at a Hollywood club with her mum Monday night and implied Lohan maybe lit a joint.

Over at Time Warner, TMZ had Lohan “devastated” over press reports Ronson might seek a restraining order, while People, providing a rare bit of good press of Lohan, later quoted Ronson’s attorney saying his client didn’t want such a restraining order.

Lohan is in a sad and tragic place, no doubt. Also pretty certain: No media outlet’s about to pass up, in the middle of a recession, what’s looking like the biggest celebrity meltdown since Britney Spears’ mental hospital tour of ‘08.

I really don't get it. The girl was in some shitty movies and was lusted for by pedos across the globe. Then when she turned 18, nobody gave a fuck anymore, she did some drugs, and she proved that money aside, an uneducated bitch is still and uneducated bitch. What's the big deal?

    FaceMelter

  • BooWahBabe

Lilo can do better than that little boy she was dating.

  • andyrobertson

Back to the trailer park with you!! Shoo! Shoo!

  • Not The Red Baron

I actually really feel for Lindsay. When you're that troubled, and unable to deal with your circumstances, you need a circle of good friends with their feet on the ground and your best interests at heart. I'm (perhaps naively) guessing she doesn't have that.

  • nystar2000

@pistachionut: That WAS Ade. But she took a gunshot in the woods to star in that shitty show. A tragedy of epic proportions.

  • pistachionut

@nystar2000: Hey, that's Adrianna La Cerva you're talking about.

  • nystar2000

Drea de Matteo is still relevant? My, how far La Lohan has fallen to bitch with a straight face about getting dissed by one of the stars of "Joey."

  • pistachionut

@nystar2000: I believe her role in "Joey" came after the writers killed off her character. Personally, I never watched "Joey" for my image of her to be affected. So she will always be Ade, and thus, great to me.

  • pistachionut

@Not The Red Baron: I'm with you. It's impossible to know what is actually going on, but it's obvious she's completely lost. My impression is that she chased after the wrong Hollywood crowd for friendship, i.e. spoiled brats with rich parents, who, now that she has no career, have no reason to hide their contempt for her. I'm not defending her behavior, but with a family like hers, someone so young would have to be pretty determined not fall apart to some degree. Sad.

  • bichon

Exactly. She made a career of being loaded. She didn't work; she made poor movie choices, and her mom's a loon.

    bichon

  • flathead

time for her to star in the remake of another classic film: The Lost Weekend

Oh Lohan, "everyone" turned on you a long time ago.

  • FormerEnglishMajor

Don't be melodramatic - "a sad and tragic place" - come ON Ryan!

We've ALL dated and had breakups - and survived. Is it sad? - yes. "Tragic" - please. "Tragic" is Natasha Richardson.

  • Dagrolord

"Samantha Ronson might seek a restraining order?" If you say so. The moment Lindsay moves on, Samantha Ronson returns to deserved non-relevance. I do feel a certain amount of empathy for Ronson- it must be horrible when the end of a dysfunctional relationship also means the end of your own existence.

Media coverage of 'step-celebrities' has always greatly annoyed me. I'll be glad to see the back of Samantha Ronson, and it would be nice to see Lohan sleeping within her own celebrity species. Ha. Just my luck, Lindsay Lohan's next lover will be Julia Allison.

Let's not wish an early Garland future on ex-Disney star Ms. Lohan. Here's hoping she finds peace outside of Scientology and late-night prescriptives.

  • janine

Whether she is in the press or not, I have a feeling that, as the sister of Mark and Charlotte, she'll land on her feet. Frankly, I always saw her as the one with connections.

  • La Mareada

@Goethewritesdrivel: She's one person who may be better off in Scientology or a real cult. Put her in that weird navy program not the celebrity center.

  • pooks

I do feel her situation is somewhat tragic in that she is the offspring of two people who never should have had kids. The girl has no reason to be right. Her mother is a drug-abusing narcissist, and her father is a felon (and an alcoholic). I know someone who was raised in a very similar environment. Self-serving, substance-abusing parents produce children who are so starved for attention and validation that they learn that any attention-- negative or positive-- is better than no attention at all. When you're raised in that environment, you are basically prewired for a royally messed-up life.

  • MrDo

So when is she doing porno?

  • formerly it takes a lot to laugh

Eh, she's a kid doing what kids do, it's just it's in the papers all the time. She's been doing movies for years and deserves to have a normal life, which includes doing drugs and breakingup with grilfriends.

But we need to look at how we get our entertainment. Between football and movies, there's a lot of injured black men and young girls out there. It's shameful that we use up their lives for a momentary diversion.

  • The2ndMrsDeWinter

Aw, she was great circa Mean Girls.

Help me, Tina Fey. You're my only hope!

I know everyone loves a little snark. But this girl seems to be really hurting. Where in Hollywood do you go when your world is crumbling around you? Have some empathy for her instead of pouring lighter fluid on the blaze, yes?

  • FormerEnglishMajor

@formerly it takes a lot to laugh: oh please. Like they don't get paid richly. You take the money, you know what it involves. They are only too happy when the money's flowing and the adulation is great. NONE of them plan for what happens after (isn't the average NFL player's tenure about 3-5 years?), and all of them are left barely-educated, spendthrifts, with no life skills.

  • CarissaIshame

Oh, that Drea de Matteo -- always a class act. Isn't Drea a little too old to be involved in these kind of pathetic showdowns? What irrelevance will do...

    CarissaIshame

  • formerly it takes a lot to laugh

@FormerEnglishMajor: because they were trained to be NFL players from when, middle school?

  • Shauna Wright

Lindsay is actually a talented little actress (not that you'd know by her recent string of flops, fueled in no small part by the dramatics in her personal life).

When you grow up with your own mother treating you like a commodity, you're gonna have some serious issues later down the line. At least Britney has ONE parent who gives a damn about her. Lindsay doesn't have a similar "savior."

    Shauna Wright

  • NYCF

LiLo wouldn't be so damned "alone" if she'd actually go to some damned meetings as she so obviously needs to. Lots of crazies there just like her to talk to.

  • FormerEnglishMajor

@formerly it takes a lot to laugh: I guess I don't feel that because you started playing ball/making movies in your teens or tweens, that it completely absolves you - when an adult - from the consequences of your decisions.

How far does that go? So if they are coke addicts, it's not their fault, if they beat their girlfriends, it's not their fault, if they take a gun to a club it's not their fault....?

  • SpicyTamale is a GA peach

@HPGrl04: That's so big of you to want to fuck her. wow.

  • janine

@formerly it takes a lot to laugh: Let's not normalize this. I know a lot of people who did drugs and had breakups in college. None of them were frequent drunk drivers, car-jackers, or hit and runners. If she behaved like any college kid, she'd be Kristen Stewart or Natalie Portman.

  • PandoraSpocks

    Dear Lindsay,

Let me say a few words from someone who also found herself, dumped, humiliated, broke and alone at just about your age. It will take you a while to realize this, but it isn't them: it's you. Your sad club hopping, drunken drug taking antics and sexual experimentation are why you are why you are now and if you ever want to work as an actress again, it must stop. YOU MUST DO THIS FOR YOURSELF. Nobody can make up for your shitty childhood. It was what it was. Find yourself a good shrink, a bunch of AA meetings and and begin to heal yourself. Stay away from your family and any friend who will not support you in this decision otherwise, the next thing we at Gawker and Defamer are likely to be commenting on will be your obituary.

    PandoraSpocks

  • MrHaroHaro

That girl needs a hug. And a lot of other things, but that is a start...

@Dagrolord: I think Ronson existed before this relationship and is likely still existing now. I never saw any evidence that she was in it for the publicity.

Where I live (here in Texas) we are rotten with recovery centers. I mean it...rotten! It is one of the leading "industries" in the Hill Country. I have a lot of first-hand experience with people who are right out of recovery and some of them do well and some of them do horribly and get right back on drugs. At any rate, it can be a real pain in the ass to deal with because sometimes these people kill themselves or otherwise harm themselves at our properties. Tres upsetting for everyone, ya know?

Lindsay sounds like the type of person who needs to find her strength. She is not going to do that in LA or NYC. She needs to go to a place like we have here in Texas. I know for a fact that a number of celebrities got sober here, mostly at a place called La Hacienda. I won't say who, since it is AA, but I know because they will come to reunions and stay at the hotel where I used to work.

I just say that in case she's reading this! Because I know she is.

  • thevirginconnieswayle

The thing that amazes me about Lohan is that she doesn't have any clue that she looks pathetic. Does she really think she's going to win us over when she tells the magazine how other pseudo-stars think she's yucky and challenge her to beat-downs?

  • Libby Andress

It's totally trendy to hate Lohan. In the words of Nichole Ritchie, "Uck"??

  • Cicada

@fuzzywhat: Oddly enough, a "thick hard dick" can be bought for a reasonable sum at any good sex shop. Finding a caring individual to love you is much harder.

  • dolemite1975

@1Gether: No, she was in it for the extra 20,000 grand she'd earn at her D.J. gigs.

  • 1Gether

@dolemite1975: Why did she suddenly stop caring about money now?

  • crackbabyjesus

Wow. I literally just saw her 5 minutes ago walking in the hills near the Greek Theatre. She actually looked pretty good, appeared to be walking with a trainer. You can't miss those freckles. Godspeed, Linds. Just stop with the "I'm sober" talks while your Twit handle is still "Jackdaniels9". Just some advice.

  • dolemite1975

@1Gether: There's only so much drug-crazy a sane person can put up with.

  • Inhaler

There actually is another side to the story concerning Drea De Matteo. She was heard telling Lindsay, "Come on me, bitch."

  • angeleyanor

Oh, to live on Sugar Mountain.

  • forwardmotion

    @WindowSeat: HORRIBLE THOUGHT. Ugh.

And we can't even fantasize anymore that Natasha Richardson (who played her mom in The Parent Trap) will swoop in and save her in real life.

    DOUBLE PLUS SAD FACE. :-(

  • miss melis

@Not The Red Baron: I agree with everyone here, but keep in mind that until recently (cf the US cover saying she's broke) she had every resource available to her in terms of seeking help. Yes, she's tried rehab, but I've never heard anything about her going to a therapist, and SHE NEEDS ONE BADLY. Psychiatric meds might also help.

It's really sad that her mom has completely relinquished any responsibility she may have once had for her and apparently given up on being her mother in order to be her nightclub-hopping gal pal. Otherwise she might be able to talk LiLo into it.

Not that I think she'd want to, particularly. Crazy Lindsay means more attention for mommy!

  • miss melis

@Not The Red Baron's comment above, at 4:45 am.

  • miss melis

@1Gether: The cost of THE CRAZY came to outweigh the benefits of THE CELEBRITY.

  • miss melis

@PandoraSpocks: I bow to you. That was excellent. If only there were a chance LiLo would ever read it and take it seriously...

  • miss melis

@fuzzywhat: Sooo glad that was tongue in cheek, so to speak. Maybe next time try cluing us in to the joke ;-)

  • Lizstless

@FormerEnglishMajor: It doesn't absolve them from the consequences of their actions, no, but that wasn't FITALTL's point. Nor does it absolve us of treating them like sub-humans. Just because they had a dream to be a celebrity don't make it fair game for us to treat them like complete shit.

  • homestar

The best post-break-up advice I ever received was the following:

If you really want them back, keep your mouth shut and your thumbs away from your cell phone. If not, you are just going to confirm the misgivings they had about you in the first place.

I had to learn this lesson last year, it's time Lindsay does the same.
