David Letterman Made To Squirm Over His Fear Of Commitment
Kelly Ripa of Regis & Kelly was about as polite and charming as possible when asking David Letterman last night why it took him 23 years to propose to his girlfriend.
Sometimes it’s much more firm to watch the Late Show host squirm and make half-hearted self-deprecating jokes than to watch him go on a hilarious tear against someone. (If you’re impatient, skip about two minutes in.)

I'm afraid Kelly needs another nose job. I can still see some of it.

C'mon. He was just doing the right thing and waiting until she reached the age of consent.
Every time she appears on TV, Kathie Lee dies a little inside. Which is good.
Tom Jordache died for your sins
A prime example of why the Gay Community should quit trying to legalize same sex marriage. They are going to piss away the perfect excuse.
Nosey Friend Or Relative: "Hey, why aren't you two married?"
Fear Of Commitment Partner: "It's illegal. Otherwise we would."
I actually am going to start to push for tougher opposite sex marriage laws. That would shut my divorce saturated family up.
it's much more firm? Up and at 'em Ryan!
bester
@bester: More firm? Sounds like Ryan IS up and at'em!
0:17 Kelly riffs Regis.

Kelly is adorable! She's my new role model. Cute and empowered. Good stuff.
DenOfEvil
@DenOfEvil: And my goodness, the things she does with laundry detergent.
@Artur Van Asinine: And appliances. 'Cause nothing is more empowering than doing laundry and baking cookies.

While I also congratulate Letterman on his recent marriage, I wonder why he finally tied the knot after an unprecedented 23 years of dating. My theory? He felt his agency constricted by the structural constraints of society. Let me explain. As we all know, there are certain "rules" in society that we abide by. These invisible rules make up the structure of society. We have an agency to do what we want, yet these invisible rules, or structural constraints, restrict our behavior. One example of this structure-agency dichotomy is marriage. In our society, marriage is seen as the next logical step after dating and falling in love. Letterman, rather than follow society's "natural progression," chose to date for 23 years! But two months ago, for whatever reason, he gave into the pressure and married his longtime girlfriend. Alas, order is restored to society.

This woman looks like an animatronic amalgam of spare parts from the various Barbie collections. You know, Malibu Barbie, Ex-Hooker-With-More-Artificial-Than-Real... Barbie, and there's my fave, Talk-Show-Hostess-Turned-Wanna-Be-Hooker... Barbie...
Live the dream, Kelly!
