Ooooh, The Logie Nominations Announcement! How Thrilling!
Nothing gets me more revved up than the Logies. Remember Defamer Australia’s highly entertaining live blogging of last year’s ceremony? Good times. And now the list of nominations for the 2009 TV Week Logie Awards have been announced, and I’m pretty much shitting myself with glee. TELEVISION’S! NIGHT! OF! NIGHTS!
It appears as though the key to getting nominated this year was to portray someone astoundingly wholesome, or a bogan gangster.
While Australian drama Packed To The Rafters can’t beat Underbelly in the ratings it has triumphed in another way by sweeping the Logie Award field with 11 nominations. Just nudging ahead of the original Underbelly series, which secured nine Logie nominations including Most Popular Australian Drama, Packed To The Rafters leading lady Rebecca Gibney, 44, also heads the pack of eight nominees vying for the coveted Gold Logie category.

Among [Gibney's] competitors are former Home and Away star Kate Ritchie, who is hoping to take home her third consecutive win in the category, So You Think You Can Dance host Natalie Bassingthwaighte, comedians Andrew Denton, Adam Hills and Rove McManus, as well as McLeod’s Daughters actress Simmone Jade Mackinnon and Neighbours retiree Ian Smith.
I love myself a slice of Gibney, but surely we’ve gotta be rooting for Ian Smith? HAROLD BISHOP FTW! You know, if Natalie Bassingthwaighte doesn’t win it, I mean. Still love you the most, The Bass!

Former Big Brother host Gretel Killeen makes her return to TV as host of the 51st Logies. And she has already indicated she’s expecting to be scrutinised heavily in the role. “It’s an honour and a thrill for me to host the Logies,” Killeen said. “I’ll look like a bag lady but if I look crap it will make everybody else look better”.
I’ve missed Gretel so.
Performing at the 2009 Logies will be Annie Lennox and Natalie Bassingthwaighte.

Jules Lund and Shelley Craft will again host the Logies Red Carpet arrivals.
