Bec Cartwright-Hewitt Is Not Having An Affair With Her Brother

You’ve got to hand it to the kids over at New Idea – when they mess up, they do so in spectacular and wonderful style. Take for instance their latest scoop regarding the dire state of the Cartwright-Hewitt marriage. Bec spotted with a man! Bec obviously lonely! Bec having an affair! Except, erm, the dude in the photos published by the overly excitable magazine happened to be her brother…

Lleyton and Bec Hewitt last night declared their marriage was stronger than ever despite false magazine claims there is a “new man” in Bec’s life. The couple last night responded to a New Idea story claiming Bec was spending increasing amounts of time with a fitness trainer from Dallas.

The magazine carried photographs of Bec and “Minder Mark” and the Hewitts’ two young children. However, the Hewitts yesterday confirmed that “Minder Mark” is actually Bec’s brother, Shaun Cartwright.

HILARIOUS JOURNALISM FAIL.

Bec and Lleyton have released a statement lashing out at New Idea:

“For some time now we’ve had to endure fictional, rubbish stories by New Idea and Woman’s Day targeted at our marriage, private lives and even work with charities. This brazen fabrication by New Idea will hopefully highlight to the Australian public theuntruths and lies some magazines will resort to to achieve increased sales.”

I hear what you’re saying, guys. I have no idea why New Idea – or any other ladies magazine, for that matter – would feel they have a right to intrude on your personal lives. No idea whatsoever.
